"Merlin! Lancelot's riding out to kill the griffin!" She cried grabbing his arms tears trailing down her cheeks.

Merlin's eyes widened. He was worried about one friends safety he couldn't handle loosing Arthur, though he wouldn't admit to it out loud, but loosing Lancelot as well Merlin would die along with them. "He's what?" Merlin demands praying he heard wrong and he had just escaped and was leaving.

Gwen sniffles shrugging her shoulder the words now trapped in her throat to remain until she could get a hold of her emotions, which probably wouldn't be until she knew Lancelot was safe. Merlin bits the inside of his cheek nodding. He pries Gwen off of him and raced out he door. Gaius shouting his name behind him, but it mattered not.

--

Merlin caught him right as he was about to leave. "I'm coming with you." Merlin orders, moving to get his own horse ready.

Lancelot hops off his horse stopping Merlin in his tracks. "No, you're not."

Merlin shoves Lancelot off of him. "Just try and stop me." He had the horse ready seconds later.

Lancelot had watched him silently. This wasn't right, Merlin was a servant not a fighter. His duty was here in Camelot. "Merlin, you're not a soldier." Lancelot tried to argue one last time, though knowing that there wasn't much of a point.

"You said it yourself, Lancelot, Arthur needs all the help he can get. Now let's go." Merlin hops on his horse looking over at Lancelot waiting for him to get mounted up. Lancelot curses under his breath. Oddly he felt like he was failing Arthur by allowing Merlin to come.

They headed deep into the forest doing their best to track the knights in the dark. It got easier as they heard the cries of fallen knights. They glanced at each other tapping their horses racing towards the death and destruction.

They look at the fallen knights. Some un-moving, some twitching as a last burst from their nerves, and others groaned softly on the ground. Merlin jumped off his horses as he spotted not a fallen knight but a fallen brother. "Arthur."

He scoops the prince in to his arms. Hands shaking and his stomach turning he checked the mans pulse. Lancelot looked down at Merlin, equally nervous. "Well?"

Merlin waits a second sighing. "He's alive." Though his pulse was weak, but from his training with Gaius he was in no need of instant medical assistance and could wait. Which was probably a good thing as the two heard the Griffin hiss at them.

Lancelot lowers his helmet gripping his lance in one hand and the horse reins in the other. He walked the horse back away from the creature to get some power in his attack.

Merlin watched Lancelot prepare as he did the same. He could feel in magic stirring within him. "Okay, Merlin, it's now or never." He tells himself.

Lancelot's horse rears readying itself for the run. Lancelot begins his run starting off slow. Merlin points a hand at the lance summoning his magic. "Bregdan anweald gafeluec." He stares at te lance but it makes no changes.

Merlin laid down Arthur holding out both hands trying again and again. He came to his feet as Lancelot nears the beast. The griffin racing towards Lancelot. He pushes his magic forward. "Bregdan anweald gafeluec!!!"

He could feel as the magic drained away from him. Lancelot's lance bursting into a bright blue flame. The lance came in contact with the griffin. The griffin gives one finally cry before busting into a array of colors, vanquished.
