"Merlin, explain to me again how on earth we got into this rabbit hole," Artura asked featuring around frantically.
Merlin's face slowly morphed into a frown. "It wasn't my fault this time." Merlin defended plopping down on the ground defeated.
"Well it wasn't mine either," Artura growled. She was angry that she hasn't been prepared for the attack. The whole ride it felt as though she was being watch but she waved it off and kept telling Merlin to stop looking at her. "Now get off your lazy bum, I'm going to give you a boost and you see if your noodle arms can get you out of hear to get some help."
Merlin jumped to his feet. "I'm not leaving you behind." Artura's heart raced quicker and she could feel her face start to heat up a little. She turned herself so her servant couldn't see. "I'll lift you up and you go get help." He demands instead.
Artura scarfted scanning the boy up and down. "And you think I'd leave you behind. Merlin you really are an idiot. Besides I don't think you could lift me." Artura smirked slapping his arm.
His jumped back hugging his arm pouting. Artura laughed and along with it came loads of relieved stress. She glanced around the hole searching for a different solution. Somehow all the walls were completely flat with no roots or hooks to grab onto to get out.
The more she thought about how confident the hole was she came to another realization. Their captors appeared to be very thorough her gut told her guards were waiting ready to push then back inside.
Artura looked up at the free sky. She had always wished to be free like a bird but she was held down by duty and responsibility. "Do you ever wish to be free?" Artura asked her eyes dropping back down to Merlin.
He glanced over at her. "What do you mean? You seem pretty free to me, Alice." Merlin asked curious as to why the girl who floated around doing what she pleased would feel so trapped.
"Do you ever wish you were truly free?" Artura repeated her gaze making its way back up to the sky.
There was a long pause, it was only a couple of seconds but to Artura waiting with anticipation it felt like multiple life times had past and yet each life she still asked the question and waited for the answer.
"Yes." Merlin finally answered.
"Is it even possible to be completely free?" Artura questioned with a little doubt hidden inside her words.
"I...erm not sure I understand your...question." Merlin admitted.
Artura wanted to shut up instantly she wasn't making any sense but a last her mouth didn't listen to her mind as usual. "Like when I think of freedom I think of bird. For it is free to go wherever it may want, but is the bird truly free. Or does tiredness and gravity weight down to the point where it too feels caged up even when it is not. Can we be free from it all, from stress from responsibilities from...from secrets." Artura ranted her voice was distant.
"Sounds like you have a lot on your mind," Merlin said his voice going soft as well almost in a reverence to avoid distributing the quietness. Artura gave small nod her head falling looking away from freedom.
Sighing she slowly lowered herself to the ground the dirt giving in and forming around her. "Do..do you...We could talk about...I mean I have a feeling were going to..erm be here awhile..." Merlin attempted to speak but each time he tried he slowly lost more and more confidence.
Artura's face glowed a little as Merlin took a seat across from her. She raised her head just enough to look him in the eye and yet she chose to look past him. Talking about things she felt were sacred to her was never easy to do when looking someone in the eyes.
