Morgana stormed towards the council room. She couldn't believe Arthur had the audacity to arrest Gwen for something that couldn't have been her.
As Morgana neared the chamber she could hear Guinevere trying to reason with the King. "Why will no one believe me?! He got better, he just recovered. I didn't do anything!"
Morgana swung open the doors marching over the Gwen. She squares down to Gwen's level offering her a tea during smile.
"I believe you. Perhaps this is a disease that is not always fatal. Have you thought of that? Perhaps he recovered naturally." Morgana suggested. As she spoke she stood up glaring at Uther. Some days he was like a living fathers, other days like today he was a tyrant who needed some sense knocked into him. Over the years Morgana came to realize that without her encouragement Arthur wouldn't put up a fight but act as a slave doing his bidding in hopes to please Uther.
"And what of this poultice that was found?" Uther challenged lifting his head high wavering his eyes away from Morgana's piercing stare.
Gwen spoke up again make Morgana's heart fall. Gwen was more than a maid to her she was her best friend they were practically sisters in Morgana's eyes. "What poultice? I don't know anything about a poultice!" Gwen's voice was scratchy from all the yelling she had been doing.
Uther rose to his throne starring them all down. He was showing off his intimidating scary side. A side few argued with. "It was found in your house. Undo this enchantment. Put an end to this contagion."
Tears began to flow down Gwen's face again. "I can't!"
"I will show you no mercy." Uther declared to the young women. Morgana knew that Uther wouldn't step away from his word unless he found someone who showed more promise of being a sorcerer.
Gwen sobbed, "I am not a witch. I don't know how to stop the illness!" She was being honest with the king, who would dare lie to him.
Uther saw no truth only the lie he wanted to see much like selective hearing. "If you will not undo your sorcery, you force my hand and I must find you guilty..." Uther warned giving Gwen on last chance.
"But I told you, I..." Gwen began to protest but was denied.
Uther sighed acting as though his decision pained him. "It is therefore my duty to pronounce judgment. And under the circumstance I have no choice but to sentence you to death."
"No." Gwen cried her tears falling harder.
Uther glared at her showing off his ice cold heart. "I can only hope that when you die, this evil plague dies with you."
"No! No!" Guinevere screamed, yet made no more to lung at the king.
Uther sat down upon his mighty throne waved a dismissive hand at the guards. "Take her away."
Morgana wanted to scream as they man didn't even allow Gwen to walk, but dragged the girl backwards. Gwen struggled pleading one last time with the king. " Please, no! I'm innocent! Please, please, no! Please help me! Please, I beg you! No!"
Everyone was quiet as they left the room. Well everyone besides the King, the prince, and Morgana. Once the doors were firmly shut Morgana spun on her heels staring down Uther.
"I know Gwen, she's my maidservant, not an enchantress." Morgana announced stepping towards the old man.
Uther snorted rolling his eyes at the little girl. "Have you ever seen an enchantress? Believe me, they bear no sign, no mark. There is no sense of evil in the eye."
