Chapter 14 ~ You Sure About That?

After school that day, I drove home at an average speed per usual. The radio was on full blast, hitting my eardrums every millisecond.

After Math class, I had gone to find Tiffany by her locker so we could get to know each other a little better. To be honest, she wasn't as bad as I first thought because when I left her, I actually had a smile on my face. She had talked to me like a normal human being without tossing her hair or faking her laughter to appear more girly, something I had thought would be too much to ask for.

Things would be a lot easier because of this, and maybe, that would only make Louis even more jealous. I hoped so, at least.

Humming along to the music happily, I parked my car in the driveway outside my house. I pulled the key out of the ignition before exiting the car and walking up to the front door. Stepping into the warmth, I breathed out a sigh of relief and closed the door behind me.

"Harry?"

I slipped off my shoes and walked into the living room where mum was ironing clothes while watching TV. We hadn't talked about our 'fight' ever since it took place, and I was happy with that. I didn't want to pressure her, and I absolutely didn't want to fight with her again, so figured I would just let it be until she decided to bring it up again.

"Hi, mum." I went over to give her a kiss on the cheek before plopping down on the couch, switching channels.

"How was school today?" She asked casually, not seeming to mind that I just put on something else to watch.

I shrugged, although I wanted to let out a squeal of happiness because Louis had reacted the way I wanted him to when I first came up with my plan. "Okay, I guess."

Mum nodded, smiling over at me. "Nothing new? You haven't made any new friends or something?"

My thoughts wandered to the brown-haired boy with puppy dog eyes who always walked alone in the hallways nowadays unless he was with that kid named Henry or something. Louis had actually abandoned Liam, that stupid asshole. He didn't know he had one of the best friends you could possibly have. Not that I knew Liam very well, but I could tell he was a great friend by the little I did know about him.

"No, but there is this one guy who walks around by himself. He seems pretty nice and I've even talked to him a few times..." I trailed off, not knowing where I really wanted to go with that.

She raised an eyebrow in slight surprise. "Mhm, and what's his name?"

I hesitated for a second, not knowing whether she knew he had hung out with Louis or not. Eh, whatever, what could go wrong anyway? "Liam Payne."

Mum's eyes widened slightly in shock. "You mean Geoff's son?"

I had no idea who Liam's dad was, but I was really surprised she knew about him and not his mother. Maybe it was because of the last name...? "I'm not sure, but I suppose so. What about him?" I asked innocently, as if I didn't know anything about Liam and his family at all.

She shrugged, forcing a smile on her face. "His dad was a player on the school football team, the best one at that too. He used to hang out with uh... Troy, but he never did anything to anyone. He was just the nicest guy you could lay eyes on," she explained.
