Room to Grow (Asahi Azumane)

Chapter 1

      Growing up my life was pretty much normal, love/hate relationship with my older brother, that included fighting a lot, yelling and screaming, helping each other with volleyball, you know the normal stuff. Always being told that Daichi and I looked alike, the only difference between us is my hair is a darker shade of brown, almost black, and my eyes are more of a honey brown than a dark brown. For a girl I've always been pretty tall, I stopped growing my third in Junior High, now standing at 169.6 cm (5'6.8"). My body build is similar to Daichi's, being a bigger, broad shoulders, but having curves giving me an hour glass figure, long legs. The last year in Junior High was the last year I was able to play volleyball, after  playing since elementary really, I had injured my knee enough times for me to not be able to play again, I kept tearing, which basically made my right knee almost useless, I can still work out and keep up my figure with easy workouts, but I can't do to much physical activity. Anytime I do physical activities, I have to wear a knee brace, which could be almost all the time, during school I have to carry one around with me just in case I need it. There is a dark scar that runs down the side of my knee where they went to attach the tendon again and again. The first year at Karasuno High, I would go and sit at Daichi's practices to wait for them. Me being me, I would tend to jump in to help the line up or help the first years if I needed too. The team had decided to make me a coach/trainer for the team. I grew close with the team and grew with them, I'm still learning, but I know I can get better, after all I still have room to grow. 

      After school it was time for volleyball practice. I had just changed into my workout clothes, which consisted of black jumpsuit sweatpants, a tank top, and my knee brace, with a jacket. I had just entered the gym, and caught as a red head had received the ball, pretty terribly done, it hit the boys face and then flew over and hit the Vice Principal in the face backing his toupee fly off and land on my brothers head, my jaw dropped as I looked across the court and seen a tall guy with black hair and blue eyes. 

"Oh gosh, Vice Principal, are you okay?" I asked as I looked at him. I could hear Tanaka laughing. "Tanaka, shut up." I looked over at him.

"Sawamura, can I have a moment?" The Vice asked, Daichi and I looked at each other trying to figure out who he was talking too. "Both of you." I bit my bottom lip as we both followed him out of the gym. After a long talk, we weren't getting into any trouble thankfully, but we are sworn to pretend we didn't see anything. 

"You two, on the other hand..." Daichi got cut off by the two boys arguing. I sighed as I looked over their applications standing next to Daichi. "Hey! I'd like you two to listen to me. I don't know what motivated you to come to Karasuno, but you came here to win, didn't you?"

"Yes!" The small red head said, who I presumed to be Hinata Shoyo. 

"Of course." Said the tall, raven haired kid, who was Kageyama Tobio, who I remember watching during the volleyball tournament last year for the middle schoolers.

"Karasuno's team could compete with the best till several years back. It only happened once, but they went to Nationals. But now, we're eight int he prefecture. We are neither particularly weak nor particularly strong. Other schools call us the fallen champs... the wingless crows. I remember when Karasuno was in the Spring High School National Volleyball Championship. I was a student from a nearby school who just happened to be passing by. Seeing them fight their fierce rivals in a gigantic Tokyo gymnasium... It gave me goosebumps. We're going there one more time!" Daichi said, I smiled at him, I want to take this team to nationals at least once while I'm here.  

"There are plenty of high schools that treat going to the Nationals like a tentative dream." Kageyama said. 

"You bas.-- I mean, you..." Tanaka said.
