The landlady shakes her head.

"Everything was in perfect condition, except Meredith."

"And what condition was Meredith in?"

"Meredith was all over. In pieces. The guy who killed her must have been some kind of a whackjob. But I tell you, if I didn't know any better, I'd have said a wild animal did it."

Dean looks at Sam and Elena.

"Ma'am, do you mind if we take some time? Give this place a once-over?"

"Oh, well, go right ahead. Knock yourself out."

Later, Dean opens his toolbox and removes the EMF meter.

"So, a killer walks in and out of the apartment, no weapons, no prints, nothing."

"I'm telling you, the minute I found that article, I knew this was our kind of gig." The EMF meter beeps frantically.

"And now I think there's something here." Elena says.

"I think I agree with you." Dean said.

"So, you talked to the cops?" Sam asks.

"Uh, yeah." Dean smirks, "I spoke to Amy, a, uh, charming, perky officer of the law."

"Yeah? What'd you find out?"

"Well, she's a Sagittarius. She loves tequila, I mean, wow. Oh, and she's got this little tattoo."

"Dean!" Elena yelled.

"What? Yeah. Uh, nothing we don't already know. Except for one thing they're keeping out of the papers."

"Hm?"

"Meredith's heart was missing."

Elena looked stunned, "Her heart?" Her voice went high pitched.

The only creatures she knew who would take hearts are werewolves and vampires, she had seemed them taken the hearts of humans before.

"Uh, yeah. Her heart."

"So, what do you think did it to her?" Sam asks.

"Well, the landlady said it looked like an animal attack."

"Maybe a werewolf?" Elena suggested.

"No, no werewolf, the lunar cycle's not right. Plus, if it was a creature, it would've left some kind of trace. It's probably a spirit." Sam said.

Dean observes the blood on the carpet and seems to notice something.

"See if you can find any masking tape around."

Dean uses the masking tape to connect each pool of blood. When he is done, the pieces of tape form an unusual symbol.

"Ever see that symbol before?"

"Never."

"Me neither. They all exchange a look.

At a bar, Dean is flirting with the attractive bartender. Sam and Elena enter and looks around. Dean notices and takes one last drink, then smiles at the bartender and leaves. "See ya."

On the other side of the room, Sam and Elena find an empty table and both sit down, Sam takes out his father's journal. He leafs through the pages, and shortly, Dean sits down across from him and Elena.

"I talked to the bartender."

"Did you get anything? Besides her number?" Elena questioned while giving Dean a look.
