My black skin
It feels like a sin
Walking around with it
Like in a high school play skit
They see and judge
They talk and hold a grudge
Do they know how it feels,
To be treated like gum under a shoe heel?

-^-

One by one
They made me feel alone
And feeling scared
Of being seen and compared
They make jokes,
And my heart creates another hole.
Filled by the empty blackness of my own skin
That the blade will later skim

-^-

My black skin
It feels like a sin
To have something different
But judged to the highest extent
In the end
I feel like a Godsend
And being black, well it is magnificent.

-^-

My black skin
It doesn't feel like a sin.
It is luscious, like a calm water's tide.
It is gracious, as a bee resting in it's hive.
It is precious, like a gem that cannot hide.
And so, my black skin, is not a sin.
