Chapter 24

"Where are you going?" Leo asked seeing me came out of my room in casual clothes. "Strolling the downtown," Harry answered before I can reply. "Didn't you need Master Darren's permission?" he asked. "He already got one, as long as I keep him company," Harry explained again. He also already changed into simpler clothes and bring a shopping bag. 

"I'll come with you," Leo said. "Go ahead," I said, "but please change to something more mundane, would you?"

We arrive in the town in the afternoon. It's quite crowded as people are pouring out from the building to go look for lunch.

As usual, I stroll through the market first. Even Though I've done this so often that I memorize all the stores' locations, the products change from time to time. Harry said that it was because they adjust their goods according to the corps season. That's why I always stop in several herbs, fruit, and vegetable store to study what products they sold this time.

Accustomed to accompanying me, Harry did not surprise when somebody run close to us or when I suddenly stop to taste the street foods. Leo, on the other hand, looks anxious every time. He even tries to make me let him tried it first. I told him that the chance I got poisoned is higher in the mansion rather than here. After that, he just silently follow me.

"Where are we going?" Leo suddenly asked after we came out from the fifth local stores today. "Didn't I told you that we are going to stroll around? It means we walk wherever our foot brought us," Harry answered. At this point, I really considered making Harry my spokesperson. He answered almost every question that Leo utters to me. Harry maybe a mere servant from the lower class, but he could speak well. 

"We've been wandering for two hours," Leo said. "You can wait in the cafe at the end of the road. That's where I'll be heading after these," I answered. Harry smirked hearing my answered, already knew that it would take sometimes until I finished strolling. In the end, Leo again just stays following me.

"Caden, isn't that the book that you want to buy?" Harry informed me when we walk passed an antique store. I immediately got in when I saw the book being displayed. The Evolution of Human Anatomy. I could not find this kind of biology book in Darren's library and I've been so curious about the human of this world. The old shopkeeper didn't even look at me when I burst in. I immediately took it from the shelf and carry it around while looking for other books, since I already come in. I never thought I would find this book in this antique store that you will probably miss amongst other similar ones around. I scan the bookshelves and took two other books. A book about the kingdom's first royal and a folklore book. Not surprisingly, folklore is one of the best source information that could represent local beliefs and old culture.

"You finish?" Harry asked when I finally came out of the store. He took the book from my hand and put it inside his bag. "Let's call it a day," I said to him. Harry raised his eyebrow because he knows I end faster today. "I'm hungry and want some coffee." Harry just raises his shoulder a little like a way to convince himself that it's a usual thing.

Without any warning, Leo suddenly pin someone down. They create a ruckus in this quite ally. "Who are you? Why did you follow us?" he asked. Did someone follow us? I was too busy to notice. The person is wearing a dirty robe with a hood to hide the face.

"Answer!" Leo said while pulling the collar up making his hood fell, showing a scared boy.

"Stop!" I instruct Leo before he could hit the boy. I approach the boy and found this familiar face. He is the first omega I encounter in the town, the first time I go. He is still so tiny and thin.

"You are Yuuri, right?" I asked helping him stood straight, telling Leo to let him go. He looks a little surprise upon hearing his name being called. He nodded in silent afterward. "I know your name from Nana, the clinic doctor if you are wondering," I explained. "Thank you for your help, and before, Sir," he said. "Please, just call me Rene," I said. He just nodded. He looks conflicted like wanting to say something but can not. He scaredly takes a glimpse at Leo who still stands close to us. 

"So, how are you? This is the first time we meet since before," I said to live up the mood. Yuuri just stays there for a moment. I saw his trembling hands. "Hey, what's wrong?" I asked holding him.

"Please help me, Sir!" Yuuri suddenly kneeling and put his head on the ground. I'm so surprised by the sudden act. "My sister, Sir. Please help my sister."
