EDITED

Ella POV

My first day on the job–without my father–was finally here. When he was around I used to observe him and learn everything. Not only that, he would put me in charge whenever he had to be away on business trips.

Even when he put me in charge, I never really felt in charge. I always felt like I was just stepping in to make sure nothing screws up while my dad was away. This feeling gave me a sense of security as if something did go wrong, my dad and I would get through it together.

But now that he isn't here. It's all me.

My assistant had called me last night, informing me that there was a major meeting at 10 am. So keeping that in mind, I started my day off pretty early.

I got out of bed and took a shower and got dressed. I wore a white dress shirt with a black pencil skirt, and topped off with a black blazer.

I got my brown Michael Kors tote and made my way down to the SUV that was waiting for me. My assistant, Ashlee was waiting outside with my coffee and some files. We got in the car and were at the office in 15 minutes flat.

This was when the nerves set in. I felt like I was about to faint. We rode the elevator to the top floor and made our way to the conference room. We got in and I saw many of my dad's coworkers–well mine now. I took a seat at my regular seat at the table after acknowledging the men.

"Ms. Westworth?" Ashlee said

I looked up at her.

"I believe you sit there." Ashlee stated while pointing at my dad's seat.

"But my dad's sitting–oh." I nodded and stood up. The feeling returned and I felt the rush of nausea take over my body.

"Yes of course my mistake. Will you just excuse me. I'll be right back." I said with a weak smile. I could almost feel my stomach churning. I needed to get to the washroom now.

I rushed into a stall and I couldn't hold it in any longer. I threw up the contents of my stomach. I pulled out some toilets paper to wipe my mouth before getting up and walking over to the sink.

Being in that room along with my nerves took a toll on me. I felt so contained and trapped. I just couldn't take it. Who knew a place that I love so much could be the same place that would make me queasy.

After a few minutes of cleaning myself up, I made my way out keeping my head down and avoiding anyone and everyone. What would people say if they hear that the CEO is nervous about taking on the new job. I may feel like absolute crap but I sure as hell wasn't going to be showing that.

Just as I was walking I bumped into someone. There was a familiarity associated but I couldn't put my finger on it. But my suspicions were confirmed when I looked up and was shocked to see the man in front of me.

"Why is it that we constantly keep bumping into each other?" He said with a smirk on his face. This time his face held more of an amusing expression rather than the anger it held yesterday.

"I don't know. Please excuse me." I walked right past him, and I felt something grip onto my arm pulling me back. When I looked back I saw him holding me back.

"Are you okay? You look like you've been-" I cut him off and got out of his grip. It only started to anger me. Who did he think he was.

"Please don't touch me." With that, I turned and walked away.

This man only made me want to throw up again. What was he even doing here? Maybe he has a meeting? Probably needs to see someone. But who? Maybe a job interview? Who the heck is he even? And why does he even care.

Whatever. I didn't have time to dig deeper in this man. I just needed to get back to the conference room and get on with the meeting. I was already trailing on time.

Matthew POV

I woke up pretty early this morning at 6:00. But that it's anything new because I always have to wake up that early. Frankly, I liked waking up early. You get more things done, when you start your day early.

I got showered and dressed in my Armani, grey suit. I also made myself a quick breakfast and left for work. Deciding to drive myself today, I got into my black Audi R8 and took off for work.

Today, I had a meeting with Westworth Industries. The sole purpose of this meeting was to discuss a merger between my company, Hazner Corp. and theirs. Having a merger with this company was very essential. If this merger happened then my company can stretch in Europe. And stretching to Europe as one big company would benefit both companies.

I have heard many good things about this company. Especially praises of the infamous owner, Charles Westworth. However, it was a shock to me when I heard that he had died a few weeks ago. I had heard so many good things about it but did not have the fortune to meet such a great man.

I actually don't know why this merger didn't happen sooner. I had asked my dad about Charles Westworth and he had assured me that this would be a smart investment. He also went on to tell me about him and how smart Charles was.

As for the new owner, I hadn't heard much about him aside from the fact that it would be Charles Westworth's child. Charles was a very private man so who that person was, was unknown. One thing that I did know for sure, though, was the fact that if his child possessed the same qualities as his father, then our merger would be a great success.

I got to the company in a matter of a few minutes. I went in and my assistant, Mary was waiting for me with my proposal in her hands.

"Good morning, sir." She smiled handing me the file.

"Morning, Mary." I took the file. "Thanks. Do you know where we're going?"

"Yes. I checked in with the receptionist and got directions to the place where the meeting is being held." She said.

"Alright great." I smiled. "Lead the way."

I could help but admire the interior of the company. It was quite like the way mine was set up but there were many differences. I'd say the interior was quite sophisticated and modern.

Mary and I made our way to the elevator and got into it. The meeting was to be held at the top floor so that is where we were headed.

I waited while my assistant went to tell the main receptionist that we were here.

As I waited, I couldn't help but admire the top floor. To my left there was an office. I narrowed my eyes and saw the sign of the office titled Charles Westworth, CEO.

I turned to my right and I was surprised to see the same woman that bumped into me was walking down the hall.

The women who called me a knobhead. What even was a knobhead. If I have a chance to speak with her, I will definitely ask her to explain it to me.

The more I looked at her, I couldn't help but notice that her face was very pale. She looked like she was nauseous and had just thrown up. She definitely looked sick. She was also walking so fast that she probably didn't notice me and bumped into me.

I heard a few curses slip from her mouth. I couldn't help but put my hands out it steady her.

"Why is it that we constantly keep bumping into each other" I said confidently. She looked up but then looked back down.

"I don't know. Please excuse me." Well that was very unlike her.

She walked right past me but that just made me wonder why she was acting this way. The woman I talked with–no argued with–was different than the woman in front of me now. I needed to know if she was okay. So I grabbed her hand and stopped.

"Are you okay? You look like you've been-" I started to say but she snapped at me and got out of my grip and walked away.

The never of that woman. What was she even doing here? And why was she pale? Before I could think more about it, my assistant approached me.

"Sir they told me they're ready for use in the conference room down the hall and to the left." She said and then started walking.

I nodded and followed her.
