Chapter 13: Ang Pagbabalik

Chapter 13

        "Agghhh! That's right! I've decided to be the best of a bestfriend kay Claire. Na pagkabalik ko dito sa Pinas itatapon ko na lahat ng nararamdaman ko para kay Claire." Aja! Fight Nath! She mustered up the courage to dial Claire's number. For some reason memorize niya 'to. 
        "H-Hello? Claire?"
        "NATHALIE?! Oh my Ghad I totally forgot! Anyway, day off ko naman kaya pupunta na lang ako diyan."
        "O-Oh? Ok."
        "Hey Nath. Welcome back." she can tell na nakasmile si Claire habang sinasabi niya 'to on the other line.
        "Pft. LATE KA! Haha! Anyway, dala ka foods ha?" Nathalie enthusiastically replied.
        "Haha. Gaga ka."

        Meanwhile, sa kabilang linya, gulat na gulat si Nadine nang madinig niyang tumatawa si Claire. Nasa kusina siya at naghahanda ng kanilang tanghalian. They just got home from the agency. Apparently, yung shooting ni Claire para sa film ay magsisismula na next month. She was already given the script in advance. Knowing Claire, this movie would certainly hit its top rating just as they release the movie 2 weeks after.

        "Sino kayang kausap niya? Ngayong ko lang siya nadinig tumawa na may kausap na ibang tao." She whispers to herself.

        Nakaupo na silang dalawa sa lamesa at naghahanda ng kumain. Nadine was curious kung sinong kausap ni Claire kanina. Then she remembered na kailangan niya ng maggrocery and since day off ni Claire...
        "Nga pala. Maggo-grocery ako mamaya, gusto niyo po bang sumama--"
        "Uhh. No. I'm going to Nath's place today. So, yeah." Claire felt accomplished the moment she turned Nadine down. SCORE! Ha! Nadine Martinez, I'll show you. There's more of that coming! she thought deeply to herself as she stands up and washed her hands. And felt kind of bad afterward.
        "Ah. Ganun po ba?" Nadine wore an unexpectedly disappointed expression. As if she really wanted Claire to come.

        Moments later, Claire left the house and Nadine, who was given the credit card for the grocery a while ago, was left alone. She cleaned the house first and made her way to the grocery, afterwards. She grabs her list from her pocket and put each of the listed items from their respective shelves. 
        "Hmmm." Nadine was at meat secton when a familiar face showed up.
        "NADINE?!" A tall guy exclaimed. He was classy-looking even for the plain green shirt he's wearing. or maybe because his hair is in a sophistacated fashion.
        "Kuya? Ikaw ba yan?" Hindi makapaniwala si Nadine na nagkita sila ng kuya niya sa isang grocery store. Her brother is actually raised in America by her Aunt. Due to poverty, ipinadala ng parents nila ang kuya niya sa America when he was about 10 years old. But just as he finished college he came back to the philippines immediately.
        "Nadine! Ikaw nga! Bakit nandito ka sa Maynila? si lola't lolo? Wow medyo matagal-tagal na rin ang huling bisita ko sa baryo naten." Hindi pa medyo ma-absob ni Nadine ang mga sinasabe ng kuya niya pero now that he's here matutulungan siya nito para luminaw na ulit ang mga memorya niya.
        "Uhh. Kuya. May kaunting problema kasi ako ee. Ganito kase yan.."

        And yes. She told about her accident and EVERYTHING she remembers. Her brother was willing to help her, thank goodness.
        "At ako ang P.A ni Claire Del Moral at an kanyang Household assistant" bigla namang napatingin ulit sa kanya ang Kuya niya.
        "At kailan ka pa nagkaroon ng interes sa mga artista? ha?" 
        "Hay nako. Mahabang storya. May gagawin ka ba? Daan ka muna sa bahay, tutal wala naman SIYA. Ipagluluto kita ng oyster omelet."
        "Hah. Sa bahay niya? I don't think that's a good idea." Her brother whispers.
        "Kuya? May sinasabi ka?"
        "Ahh wala naman. Sige sige. Tulungan na din kita diyan. tutal ito lang naman ang mga balak kong bilhin." itinaas niya ang blue basket niya na may lamang tubig, toothpaste, mga noodles at iba pang snacks.

        They both talked about things they missed. Ang mga bagay na nangyare sa kanilang dalawa. They both agreed na iuuwi muna siya ng kuya niya hanggang sa luminaw na ang mga memorya niya. And siyempre 'tong si Nadine ipinilit na kailangan muna niyang ipaalam kay Claire ang planong pagbalik niya sa kanila. Pagkatapos nilang mag-grocery dumuretso agad sila sa condo ni Claire sakay ng puting Audi A6 2014 ng kuya niya. For some reason, alam na agad ng kuya niya ang daan kahit na hindi pa sinasabi ni Nadine.

        "Alam mo na ang daan kuya?" tanong ni Nadine.
        "Ahhh. Uhh.. Oh? Tama ba yung daan? Instincts ko lang. Haha." her brother replied then an awkward laugh followed. After that, si Nadine na ang nagturo ng daan all the way to Claire's condo.

        Meanwhile, si Claire bumili ng paboritong strawberry cake ni Nathalie sa bakery store na pinagbibilan nila lage date. Bumili na din siya ng cupcakes from there. And of course nakadisguise siya. She wore a short ginger hair wig with a bowler hat hiding the top of it., which really suited her. Sunglasses with a pair of short jeans, rubbershoes and plain white shirt with a denim chaleco before it. She looked gorgeous in it but looked like a total different person.
        "Wow. It's been a while. I should call Nathalie, kung meron siyang guston ipabili." she was about get her phone from her handbag nang makapa niyang wala ito dun.
        "F*ck! I must've left it in my room. Shit, kung nakakapagteleport lang talaga ako. Anyway, padadala ko na lang kay Nadine. Tutal hindi naman ito gaanong malayo." She went to a payphone nearby and dialed her home's number.

        "Hello?" a voice answered on the other line. 
        "Hello. Nadine? Ihatid mo nga dito yung phone ko--" 
        "Nadine? Ay may kausap ka? sensya na-" A male voice came from the other line. Claire immediately hanged the phone up. What was that? What the fuck was that? A GUY? Her boyfriend? Her friend, perhaps? pero lalake kaya BOYFRIEND DIN! Nairita siya bigla. P*nyeta bakit may lalake dun? hindi pa man niya nakikita yung lalake, tinadtad niya na ng mura sa utak niya. PFT not that I care , anyway. Her brain said she didn't care. Pero pumara agad ng taxi ang katawan niya. At sinabi ng bibig niya ang address niya. Her fingers tapping her knees as a reflex for the desire na bilisan ng taxi. Kung pwede lang sanang magteleport ginawa na niya. Her body is completely acting against her brain. 

        "Sino yun?" tanong ng kuya niya.
        "Ewan. Wrong number ata? Tara kumain muna tayo."
        "Nga pala may something na tumutunog dun sa kwarto na yun. A phone maybe?" as he point at Claire's room. Narealize ni Nadine na baka si Claire ang tumawag kanina. The person DID mention na magpadala ng phone. Oh my!

DING DONG! DING DONG DING DONG!

        May nagring ng doorbell na para bang galit na galit sa mundo. Papunta na sana si Nadine nang iluwa ng pinto si Claire papasok. 
        "Nadine? sino yun--" nagkatinginan bigla si Claire at ang kuya ni Nadine.
        "Ahh. Kuya ko nga pala, ma'am Claire."
        "Hi Claire. Long time no see."

        

        "Lheo?"
