Chapter Eleven (III)

"But how?" Uther hissed.

This was a reasonable question one that might not have a simple answer or at least and answer Uther may not like. "Well..." Gaius began to say only to cut off by the doors slamming open.

All turned their attention towards the man walking in. Artura almost slammed her head on the table when she saw it was none other than Merlin.

Even with little experience with the young man she knew he could be a reckless idiot whenever someone close to him is in trouble.

"It was me! It was me who used magic to cure Gwen's father!" Merlin confessed sliding to a stop.

Everyone stared at him wondering what was wrong with the boy. Artura was wondering the same thing, however, she had also seen the two interacting lastly. She also knew that Gwen was generous enough to give him a flower. They all added up to one conclusion that honestly Artura wasn't too fond of.

"Gwen is not the sorcerer. I am!" Merlin said staring down the king ignore everyone else intense stare.

Gaius arose from his seat concerned for the young boys health. "Merlin! Are you mad?"

Merlin's head snapped to Gaius's, "I cannot let her die for me." He turned back to Uther holding out his hand together. "I place myself at your mercy."

Gaius couldn't...no would accept this proclaiming, "He doesn't know what he's talking about."

Merlin glared at Gaius turning back to Uther, "I do."

Uther had heard enough proof he stood waving at the soldier near the door. "Then arrest him."

She couldn't believe she was going to have to save her manservant butt. She arose from her seat as well calmly addressing her King, "Father, please! I can't allow this! This is madness! There's no way Merlin is a sorcerer."

Brow raised Uther gestured towards Merlin. "Did you not hear him?"

Artura smiled hurt my nodding her head, "Yes."

"He admitted it." Uther pointed out. Artura rolled her eyes boys could be so oblivious.

"He saved my life, remember." Artura pointed out in return. She almost wished Morgana was here she would help with the argument and she would hopefully hat her guts less.

These words were not convincing enough sadly as Uther continued to speak, "Why should he fabricate such a story?"

Artura looked around her eyes landing on Gaius reminding her of one of the last few words he had spoken, she could and would use them to help Merlin. "As Gaius said, he's got a... grave mental disease." Artura began to explain.

Merlin looked a bit offended and everyone else was surprised at the causation including Gaius.

"Really?" Uther asked, curious as to what his disgraceful daughter had to say.

She glanced at the boy silent apologizing for her next few words. "He's in love." she said in a matter of fact tone.

This seemed to have upset and confused Merlin even more. "What?"

Artura looked over the people they all looked a year to hear more. They all over gossip secretly and she had often heard them talking about help some maids get together with a few guards though if you asked them they would all denied it.

"With Gwen." Artura finished forcing a teasing smirk upon her face.

Uther also grinned finding the news quite funny. "I am not." Merlin defended embarrassed.
