"You silly girl, can't you tell how crazy I am about you yet?" He whispered before latching his lips to mine. I let the way his mouth was working with mine, the way our tongues moved perfectly together, and the way his hands were moving on my body, erase all thoughts of Tessa from my mind. By the time we broke apart, we were both breathing heavily. "If my parents weren't here, I would take you right now, on this couch." He growled at me, his blue eyes darkening. I shivered from his words and the look in his eyes. He was distracting me again. "Stop doing that." I breathed out, his face still close to mine. He smirked at me. "What am I doing y/n?" "You're distracting me from the conversation." He shook his head slightly, a small grin forming on his pink lips. "I'm not. We were talking about how crazy I am about you. I was just showing you." I rolled my eyes at him. "Seriously Colby. You want me to get over this and what? Be friends with her?" I watched as his tongue darted out over his bottom lip, wetting it. His hand went up to his head, through his hair. "I don't know. I don't expect you too. I'm just trying to think of how I can save the friendship. I wanted you guys to be friends. She's really not that bad, once you get to know her." I shot daggers at him, with my eyes. "I'm just saying! What she did was wrong, it's just what she's used too." I started to get up off the couch, tired of him defending her, but he grabbed me around the waist and pulled me back onto his lap. "I'm not making excuses! I'm just trying to explain." I turned in his lap, so that I could see his face. He was nervously chewing on his bottom lip. "You can't explain this." I said softly. I could tell that this was hurting him. "Just because it happened with every other girl, doesn't excuse it. She knew I wasn't like the others. Have you ever put a ring on the others?" I asked, knowing full well that he hadn't. His brow furrowed as he looked at me. "Of course not." He scoffed. "I know you don't trust her and that's fine. You need to trust me. Don't you trust me y/n?" I sucked in a breath. His eyes were burning into mine again. "Of course I do. You aren't fighting fair." I pouted. His shoulders slumped in defeat and he laid his forehead on mine, pulling me closer. "Okay. If this is what you want, okay." I couldn't stand the sad look in his eyes. "Damn it." I muttered. "Fine Colby." I said angrily. "But WE need to talk to her face to face...and no more with these little text messages. Plus I wanna see what she's been texting." A smile broke out across his face, lifting his cheeks. He dropped his phone in my lap. "Here. She hasn't said anything about that since it first happened. Just one text after the phone call. Then she just apologized and wanted me to talk to her." I started to unlock his phone, then I stopped. He just asked me if I trusted him. Sighing heavily, I dropped the phone back into his lap, behind me. He looked from the phone, back up to me, confused. "I trust you. Always." I put our signature word in there to let him know how much. That big beautiful smile crossed his face and I knew that I did the right thing. He could probably ask me to do anything and I would do it as long as he smiled at me like that. Probably not healthy, but it was true. He pulled me close to him, passing his lips over mine softly. "Let's go to bed." He said quietly, his breath blowing over my ear. I shivered, feeling the effect that he had on me instantly.

"Y/N?" Mrs. Brock was calling my name, snapping me out of my deep concentration. I was trying to help her in the kitchen, but I wasn't familiar with this recipe. I looked over to her smiling. "Ma'am?" She tucked her hair behind her ear, her blue eyes twinkling so much like her son's. She smiled and shook her head at me a little. "I asked did you need any help over there. Looks like you might be stuck." She laughed gently to ease her words. Smiling back at her, I replied. "No ma'am, I've got it. I just want to be sure that I do it correctly." She laughed again. "It's chili, honey, not rocket science. Just throw the stuff in the pot and let it simmer. Don't overthink it." Yeah, she didn't know me well enough yet. I overthink everything. "I'll try." I replied laughing and grabbing the tomato to cut up. Colby and his Dad left earlier to pick up his brother Gage and go to Lowe's to get the materials for a deck that they wanted to build around the pool out back.  Colby was going to help as much as he could, while we were here, giving me a chance to get to know his Mom. Maybe it her chance to get to know me? "I didn't even know that Colby could do handyman types of things." I said, skimming over the recipe in front of me. "He can." I heard the absolute love for her son in just those two words. "Him and his brother use to help their dad with little side projects all the time. It was something that he really enjoyed doing actually. They built that tree house out back." She replied, pointing towards the big glass double doors that led outside from the kitchen. I glanced that way but didn't see a tree house. "You can't see it from here." She said, noticing my expression. "Go take a look." She motioned me towards the door, so I rinsed and dried my hands, then headed towards the doors. I didn't need to step out to see it but I wanted too. The temperature was perfect outside, allowing me the joy of a breeze blowing over my skin as I walked out the doors.
