•Chapter VII•

If 'I love you,' was a promise, would you break it if you're honest?

<•••••∆•••••>

"We've been looking for you." He said intimately close to my face.

I could feel his breath on my lips as he spoke and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly terrified. He knew who i was and what I was capable of doing to him if I really wanted to.

"I'm sure, I don't know what you're talking about."

His lips drew back in a smile showing his yellow tinted teeth. He knew I was fibbing but at the same time, that's all I could do at that moment. If I could fool him or the king by not helping myself, maybe I could get away.

"The king will be angered that we lost his shadow lord but my queen will be delighted to know that we have found her little hideaway."

"I won't go."

"Who said you had a choice?"

"What grounds do you have to take me on? I am innocent and you have no right to take me from my home without proper documentation when I have done nothing wrong!" I argued.

He gripped my arm. And pulled me closer to his body.

"You were so badly beaten, that when we interfered, we realized who you were and took you to the King. " He mocked.

I looked at him confused. What kind of story is that? The inaccuracy of the tale would be too obviouse, even a blind man could see.

He threw me to the ground and kicked me in my stomach, knocking the wind out of me. This put his plan into action but I just hoped that Drøcø got away.

"Now, we just have to make our story believable." He said as he kicked me again.

I laid there, taking it as the blows became more aggressive and drawn out. I choked up blood but he didn't stop as my body became limp and lifeless. One more blow would end it all and Lord knows I've been welcoming my end for a long time. My family was waiting and all I needed to do was let go.

The blows stopped and I heard crashing sounds around me but I could barely bring myself to open my eyes. Growls erupted which made my eyes flicker open and watch the scene before me. The Dragon was stumbling trying to get the upper hand on the commander after taking out the guards who stood outside my door and mostly succeeding until the commander sliced his chest making him drop to the ground. The poison was rendering him useless in a fight.

"I guess we found the dragon healer as well as the bender. Two in one day, how exciting!" He said to himself.

He stood over the dragon, sword held high above him ready to pierce the dragon through his chest and end his life. I stood on wobbly legs, grabbing hold of an iron skillet on my counter. It weighed me down but I dragged it along as I stood behind Commander Juveal. It took all my strength to raise it high just when his swords was about to come down.

"The Queen wanted you brought back alive, but I'm sure she'll warm up once she sees your beloved healer. And I for one, can't wait to see how it turns out for her."
