Daddy Issues (Legends of Tomorrow)

Start from the beginning

"An Aevum to be precise," Gideon put in. "They rapidly age through their childhood years and usually reach adulthood within a matter of weeks. Once they reach that point they continue to age at a normal rate. By my calculations Zarina with reach this stage in two weeks."

The whole team stared between John and Zarina, having managed to barely squeeze into the med-bay. The pregnant pause was eventually broken by Zarina letting out a light snore.

"How could you not tell us?" Sara hissed, careful not to wake up the sleeping toddler.

"I wasn't sure. Like I said, it was a fling. I had to remember her mother, which was hard given a massive hangover." John retorted, walking over to Mick and picking up his dozing daughter.

"Well this is good right?" Zari asked looking around at the others. "I mean, we won't have to worry about a toddler running around the Waverider for several years, getting into things."

"Z's right, that has to be an upside?" Ray questioned. "We can help John out when we're not out on mission, take turns babysitting."

"As much as I'd appreciate it mate, Zarina is no ordinary child. While she will reach an adult form sooner than humans would, she is only half Aevum. There could be side affects of such rapid growth, not to mention, if her mother was right, and she does take after both of us..." John began lightly rocking Zarina in his arms as she slept.

"Then she'll disposed to witchcraft too," Sara concluded.

"Exactly. At such a young age, it is hard to control such powers, and as much as it pains me to say, I wouldn't want anyone of you to caught up in that. It can get bloody." John concurred, smoothing Zarina's dirty blonde hair out of her face. Slowly, John turned to leave the med-bay and head back to his and Zarina's room when he felt a light touch on his arm. Turning he came face to face with Nate, who was slightly unsteady on his feet from the drugs, but smiling none the less.

"Dude every day is a bloody day for us. We're the Legends and we don't leave our friends out to dry. Plus, you're family, and family is messy. Who better to depend on than us?"

Several Weeks Later...

Zarina had finally finished growing and was fitting in nicely with the Legends. They had created a sort of mock school for her, each Legend delegated to teaching her the basics. Mick had taken to teaching her how to write fiction, and she had taken it up, unfortunately for the Legends she often left it laying about-and it was not exactly clean. Ray was in charge of her science learning. Already she had created a mini ionic blaster and nearly blown up the Waverider. As for Nate, he and Gideon were in charge of history, bringing Zarina up to speed on the Legends' mission and how changing one event can lead to ripples in space time. Sara was in charge of physical exercise, leaning heavily hand to hand combat skills as a basis for her curriculum. Zari, John, and Nora (who had been staying on the Waverider to 'assist' the Legends) had all been helping Zarina learn how to control her powers.

"Take a deep breath, clear your mind." Nora spoke quietly from her position across from Zarina.

"I'm ready," Zarina replied opening her eyes to look out at her 'classroom'. The best place for her to practice had turned out to be the lab. With the most open space on the Waverider, and a containment cell for any accidents, it had been a much better solution than the cargo hold-which was still sporting some severe burns.

"Now, concentrate on my voice love," John whispered, as he walked around the circle of candles Nora and Zarina were sitting in. "Remember keep your mind clear. We're gonna try and basic spell first to get you warmed up. Do you remember the summoning spell I taught you last week?"
