Chapter eight

ADRAIN'S POV:

I arrived a few minutes late which I did on purpose. I really didn't want to be here. Anyway, here goes nothing. I rang the doorbell and was ushered in by a maid who showed me to the dinning room. I went into the dinning room and was captivated by the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. Eyes dark as ebony, skin as dark as chocolate, beautiful lips which graced the features of her small diamond shaped face. She was enchanting
Crap

Those things only happen in shitty movies. The guy falls in love with the girl at first meeting. She was ok yes, but, not to the point I'll lose my senses and start reciting poems plus, she's not my type. I apologized for being late then took a seat opposite hers.

HARMONY'S POV:

Megan had told me he was hot but, I never expected this. He looked like a super model, no a freaking Greek god with his grey eyes, straight nose, small heart shaped lips which looked so succulent. He was very tall compared to my 5 ft 4 height. He was also muscular with broad shoulders, you could tell he works out from his physique.

"Harmony dear, this is Adrain. Son, meet the lovely Harmony" said Mrs Stone, i mean Taylor.
"Hello" his deep voice made me tensed. Why does he have such an effect on me. I can't even look him in the eyes
"Um..h..hi" I stuttered. Ugh what's wrong with my fucking brain. It suddenly stopped functioning
"So Harmony dear, what do you do for a living?" Desmond asked. All eyes were on me except that of Adrain
"Um... I just got a job as an assistant", "that's very good dear" Taylor said. I wonder what Adrain thinks about me.

From his reaction and behavior, it's obvious he doesn't like me. Great my life is going to be like a fucking Wattpad story. The billionaire husband maltreats the girl who falls in love with him first then, later he falls for her and they live happily ever after. We all moved to the living room after dinner. They discussed about business while I on the other hand sat there completely bored and left out from their conversation. This stupid dress was starting to itch I was thinking when Taylor spoke up

"Harmony dear, why don't you show Adrain around so you two can get to know each other better" she said
"That's a great idea Taylor" my mom encouraged. They were trying to get us alone. I glared at my mom and she gave me a teasing smile knowing fully well that I find Adrain attractive but, how could I not?, He's so damn hot
"Okay" I walked past Adrain and he followed suit. We both went to the balcony. I felt so nervous under his piercing stare. He kinda looked pissed well that's his problem
"Well this is awkward" I mumbled trying to break the silence
"Look am going to be frank with you..." He said. Wait is he about to recite that cliche line about him not wanting this marriage or how we are going to sign a one year agreement. So, before he could complete his sentence I beat him to it
"Are you about to tell me that you don't like me, you don't want to marry me and, that am an inconvenience? Well news flash, I don't want to marry you either"I said staring at him in the face. How dare he?
"Look I already promised my parents to marry you and if you think you can mistreat me or threaten me, then you have another thing coming" he looked shocked but quickly recompose himself
"Who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that?" He said lowly taking a step closer to me. I could feel his breath on my face.
"I am your wife to be in less than two weeks" I said trying to match his stare
"Listen here, you mannerless woman..."I cut him off before he could complete his statement
"Eww...stop talking, is your spittle supposed to be a face moisturizer of some sort? Don't talk to me" he didn't spit on me but I couldn't think of anything to get out of the situation. I stormed back into the sitting room
"You're back so soon dear" mom said. What was she expecting? That we were going to have sex. This woman is unbelievable
"Mom, dad, I have to go now. I have an early meeting tomorrow and I have to prepare for it" he said behind me. I was startled.
"Gerald, Martha...it was nice of you to host us for dinner" Taylor said, "no need to thank us Taylor, we are practically families now" they both hugged each other while dad and Desmond did that men handshake.
"It was lovely meeting you" Mr Desmond said. I thanked him and they all left but not before Adrain spared me one last mean look.
This is going to be a rollercoaster ride I mumbled to myself when they were entering their cars.

*****Monday morning*******

I got up early this morning to prepare for work. My entire body was so sore, I couldn't even stand properly but what to do? I have to pay my bills. Yeah, my parents are rich but, I'll rather be independent. I showered and got ready in one of the office attires Meg had bought for me. Good thing she arranged everything because I wouldn't have known what will go with this suit. I brushed my hair and put it in a high ponytail, did a little make-up, then put on a pair of flat shoes. There's no way I'll be able to Walk in heels today. Why did I wear them yesterday, it's not as if he noticed them. Oh well, I grabbed my bag and keys and drove mark to OGC (Otalia's Group of company).

ADRAIN'S POV:

I had an early morning meeting today and I was already in a bad mood due to what she said to me last night. I don't even know why am still thinking about her. I already got dressed in a dark blue suit and black shoes. I was in the process of knotting my tie when my phone rang.

"Who is this pestering me this morning, I'm so not in a good mood" I answered the call without even looking at the caller
"Yo my man, I heard you're getting married. When were you going to tell me and what happened to staying single forever" it was Lamar.

Lamar Martin my best friend from childhood. We used to attend the same school and funny story he was a girl but did transformation of gender which made some of our school mates bully and tease him but, I stood by him and protected him because he was a good kid. He's very sensitive and shy but he's learn to overcome his shyness. He's one of the biggest multimillionaire in Europe. He deals in cars. He's also the one who supplies cars for me.

"Yeah it was so sudden man. Dad arranged her due to some old pact he made with her father long ago" he laughed. He never takes anything serious but I know he cares about me
"Have you met the girl?", "Yes I did yesterday"
"So how is she? Was she hot" he bombarded me with questions
"Hot? More like cold. She's dark in complexion and one of the craziest women I've ever met" she was far from hot. Yes she was pretty but hot nahhh
"It doesn't matter if she's dark, since when have you become racist?"
"I'm not. I'm just saying she's not my type which is good because I don't want any emotional attachment", "that means she's someone you can fall in love with" he said
"Shut up Lamar. Make sure you're in New York by tomorrow or next. I need my best man"I said trying to fix the stupid tie
"Sure thing bro", "bye" I hung up.
Could she be someone I can fall for..... nope that's impossible. I don't think I can love anyone after my past

I got in my car and was about to start the ignition when my phone rang again. Who is it again?
"Hello" I didn't bother to look at the caller since I started the car and was driving
"ADRAIN IVAN STONE!!!" I stopped the car abruptly.
"Ariana?"I stared at the screen but it isn't her number
"The one and only. When were you going to tell me about your marriage" she said screaming at me.

Ariana Stone, my 24 year old younger sister whom I love with all my heart. She works as a model and travels around the world. After Lamar, she's the second person I'm very close to. Someone I can share my thoughts with
"I was going to tell you. It's not as if am looking forward to it." She sighed
"Adrain, you need to let go of your past. It's been six years now" if only it was that simple.
"How did you even find out" I tried avoiding the topic. She just sighed
"Mom told me. I'll be coming in two days time." She never comes home when mom or dad asks her. They are both a pain in our asses but we love them to death.
"Are you sure about that? You don't have to" I said teasingly
"And miss my only brothers wedding, not a chance." She said laughing.
"Alright. I have to go to work now. We'll talk when you come." I started my car again
"Bye big head" I rolled my eyes and smiled. I drove off to the office.
