Zoro clicked his tongue. "The halls moved."

"Yeah, that so? C'mon, let's get you to the dining room safely, in case scary monsters jump out, too," you cooed.

"Shut up," he said, but followed you nonetheless. Amused, amber eyes watched you exit the room, Zoro just behind you.

Mihawk shook his head, smiling ever so slightly. He stood and straightened his shirt before walking towards the dining room himself.

Zoro was practically shoveling the food into his mouth, and four helpings later he mumbled out a 'thank you' after barely swallowing.

"You're welcome, glutton."

Mihawk sat at the table where his food was placed. Zoro and Perona shared a look, and Zoro stopped eating for a second.

"I just realised that I have to do something," Zoro said suddenly, getting up and walking away.

"I'm going to go with him, or else he'll be lost in the halls forever," Perona said. She floated behind him and disappeared into the halls.

You and Mihawk ate in an awkward silence.

"They're just sitting and eating," Perona said, watching the den den mushi feed.

"That's 'cause they're stupid," Zoro grunted. "But it's okay, (Y/N) is extra stupid, so she'll try to talk to him. Just wait for it."

You shifted awkwardly before deciding on talking. "So," you said. "Lovely weather we're having?"

"Roronoa (Y/N), the weather here is either dark or dark and raining. If you're so desperate for conversation, just talk normally."

"But... that's weirder."

"Roronoa (Y/N), you've been living here for a year."

"And yet you still refer to me as 'Roronoa (Y/N).'"

"Touche."

Silence returned, as did the awkwardness.

"God they're idiots," Zoro said.

"Hush, I think something's gonna happen."

"You know, I realised it's really been a whole year. It seems like shorter," you commented. "It's gonna be weird going back to the ship and resume journeying."

Mihawk hummed. "Is that so? And what is it you seek on your journey?"

You chuckled. "It's gonna sound cheesy," you warned, but he simply shrugged. "I wanna find my soulmate."

"It's a rare thing for people to find their soulmate. Most people don't even bother and settle for someone else."

"Ouch."

"Apologies, just a voice of reason."

"I get the feeling you're not sorry."

"I never said I was," Mihawk said.

"Anyway... What about you? What do you want?"

He cocked an eyebrow and took a sip of wine before humming. "Perhaps a challenge? That seems entertaining enough, but so difficult to find."

You sighed. "Cocky much," you muttered.

"Within reason," he said.

"I guess. Anyway, what about Zozo? Is he a challenge?"

"I suppose so. Not yet, but in some time, yes."

"Have you found other challenges yet?"

"Not particularly. The biggest challenge right now is keeping you, Roronoa Zoro, and the pink brat in check."

Perona huffed. "What a jerk!"

"Shaddup, he's not wrong," Zoro said.

"Rude."

You laughed. "Very entertaining, huh?"

He shook his head. "I think irritating is more accurate. What about you, though? Found any potential soulmates?"

You sighed. "Probably not. But it's also not like I check everyone's shoulder, so maybe I passed them already." Another sigh escaped your lips, hoping it wasn't the case. "But I wonder if I ever found them, how that'd go."

Mihawk wasn't exactly sure how to respond. Feelings were not his specialty. "Well," he said. "I'm sure it'll be fine. I've been many places and seen many people," he started.

You seemed to shoot up at that.

"So if you wanted, I could see if I could recall a mark similar to yours."

You nodded eagerly and slid off your jacket you always kept on. The island wasn't cold, but the humidity was so bad that without one, it felt like you had a weird, gross wet jacket on.

You lifted the sleeve of your shirt to reveal your mark; a vine that stemmed from a small moon and twisted down around two swords, which formed the bottom of a heart, and the vines wove to form the top of the heart.

"It's very familiar," he said after a few moments of picking the words he wanted to use.

"Really?" you asked, excited.

He stood and slid off his coat. He turned so you could see his shoulder, which held the same mark.

"Told you!" Perona said.

"Shaddup," Zoro hissed.

"Oh," you said. "That's... unexpected." You chuckled softly. "Welp, I guess I lose this round, life."

Mihawk slipped his coat back on. "Oh?"

"I figure you're not one for the whole soulmate thing," you said, smiling.

"Who said that?"

"Look, I'm not judging you or your life choices, but you live on a gloomy island in a giant castle, alone until Zoro, Perona, and I showed up."

"Maybe," he said. "But, I suppose I wouldn't mind it all that much if it's you."

You blinked a few times, smile fading before returning as a huge grin. "Really?"

He nodded. "Yes."

"Can I hug you?"

He nodded again, and you practically leapt into him. "But personally, I'd much rather do this," he murmured, pulling away for just a second only to close the gap, letting his lips find yours in a loving kiss.

You smiled, allowing the kiss to deepen.

"Should we... stop watching now?" Zoro asked.

"Nah."
