I had to do an assignment on Syria for a school project and it's absolutely heartbreaking to see. This isn't only from a human standpoint either, but personal. While I wasn't around back then, my family used to live in Syria. My mom says it's probably her favorite place she's ever lived. She's been saying for years that when it's safe, she's going back. She's been saying for years that when it's safe, she's taking her daughters to see it. My sister was too young to remember anything and by the time I was born, we didn't live out there and it was starting to get bad. All I have are the stories and news headlines to hear about what my family used to love.
