Between Mumma And Daddy

You sat in the wheelchair, watching as Harry tucked the 24-hour-old newborn into her colorful car seat, a smile on his face as he watched her. He was sleep deprived, the dark circles ringing around his eyes as a yawn escaped his lips. He made sure to tuck the warm blanket around her tightly; his old blanket that his mother gave you at your baby shower. She had patched the holes up and tried her best to get the stains out, but you promised her that it was perfect; it was her father's after all.

"Ready, my love?" He turned to you, a smile on his face as he pulled his beanie down tighter around his ears. You nodded, smiling as he placed the car seat in your lap, your arms securing tightly around it. "You okay?"

"Yeah," you were still tired; between the feedings and fussiness, you hadn't gotten much sleep. "Ready to go home."

"Let's get you girls home then," he grinned, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of your head before pushing the wheelchair out of the room and down the hall of the hospital.

There were too many flashes for your liking, many security guards pushing them off so Harry had enough room to push you through. The screaming fans gathered, making you wince and glance down at the snoozing baby. He was quick to swoop the seat off your lap and into the backseat of his rover, securing it tightly before reaching for you.

To say you weren't in pain would be a bluff. You'd endured 16 hours of labor without any medication and the soreness was just catching up to you. He didn't waste any time as he swooped you into his chest, your arms quickly wrapping around his neck as he leaned into the car to set you down beside Darcy.

"You okay?" He whispered, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. You smiled, leaning up a bit to press a kiss to his lips.

"Let's go home, handsome."

You stood in the foyer, a content sigh leaving your lips as you felt yourself relax in the comfort of your own home. He followed in behind holding the car seat in one hand and papers in his other. He set her down in front of him, a smile on his face as he looked over at you.

"You stay down here for just a moment until I settle her upstairs. I'll help you up there," he leaned down to grab the handle of the car seat and made his way up the stairs, your eyes lingering after him with a smile on your face. He didn't take long to dash back down the stairs and carry you back up them, making his way into the bedroom and setting you down on the edge.

"Relax," he whispered, his lips connecting with your forehead before he leaned down to unbuckle Darcy out of her seat. He paused, gulping and looking back up at you.

"What's the matter?" You sat up as best as you could, looking at him with wide eyes.

"I...I don't want to hurt her, she's so small," he confessed, his eyes looking back down at his tiny daughter snuggled into her seat.

"Babe, you know you're not going to hurt her. She's just fine. Plus, she's quietest when she's being held by you," you smiled, watching as he let out a breath and scooped her into his arms, her head falling into the crook of his elbow.

"There you are," he breathed. "Welcome home, my love." He came around to his side of the bed and climbed in beside you, a smile on his face. You leaned into him, pressing your head against his shoulder and watched as he cradled her to his chest.

"I can't believe she's finally here," he smiled, looking over at you. "Thank you."

"You played a part in this too, baby," you laughed softly, tucking his curls behind his ear.
