Flight Club,
The lights flashed out colors and loud music rocked the glasses on the counter as Jacob walked inside the club, located at the extreme corner of the city. The place irrespective of the remote location, always remained filled with people of different age groups, having alcohols overpowering their blood and grooving as no one is watching. Jacob walked near the bar, which was in comparison the most illuminated space. As he leaned over the counter, his fair skin shone yellow, below the light.
"Double scotch on Rocks." He ordered and leaned his back against the counter, facing the dance floor.
"One scotch, neat!"
Jacob turned his neck towards the source of the sound and found Madeline standing near him leaning towards the bar. Her straight hair flown down loosely on her bare back, of the backless black top. He let out a smirk and moved back his stare towards the dance floor.
"Wow!" He scoffed, "Someone is going to harsh on herself. Again."
Madeline turned her heel towards him and let out a sigh, "Someone badly needs to clear her mind. Again.
Jacob laughs, "Are you okay? "
"Oh! Definitely I am." She replied lacing her words in sarcasm.
"don't be such a spoil sport, sugar baby."
The uneven pitch of the voice dragged their attention towards the source. It was a man, his eyes filled with lust while he was talking his way into getting someone engulfed into his in- vain effort. Madeline mused, "Looks like someone is enjoying a nice company."
"Tsk!" Jacob remarked, "poor boy"
Madeline turned her neck towards Jacob.
"Don't look at me. He messed up, with the wrong lady."
They both burst out into a cackle, loud enough to drag the man's attention towards her. As soon as his eyes fell on Madeline a knowing look spread over his face. The playfulness vanished and a pondering look registered over his countenance. But not long did he take, when a hard smack in his cheek pulled him out of his thoughts, making him groan.
"I hope this puts some sense into you." Clare bellowed.
Jacob noticed the sudden change in his expression, "Maddie, let's head back, before you run out of your senses."
Madeline shot her eyebrows at him, "Are you serious?"
"I don't want to drag you out again."
"You never had me drag me."
"Really? I guess, I remember the last day....."
"Okay, Forget it." Madeline rolled her eyes and received a sneaker from Jacob in return.
"Clare, wanna join?" He called out.
Clare nodded, with a scrunched face, "I'd love to."
As Clare turned to leave;
"You did not even finish your drink, beautiful."
"Shove it in yours, you scoundrel."
The next day,
Madeline entered the desk of the shop, she worked in, just as any other day. As she placed her bag on the floor and turned her heel to settle the stacks;
