Chapter 1- The Killer

Start from the beginning

"Sorry Honey!" she spoke in a sarcastic tone.

"You...!" he started off in an incohorent tone, but before he could continue,

BANG!

A single gunshot. The bullet pierced right through his skull, leaving him dead, showered in his own blood.

She waited while the man did his last bit of struggle before he completely stopped moving. She sauntered over to the bed and pressed two fingers over his neck. He was dead.

A silence took over the room, only broken by the subtle noise of traffic below ten floors and the clock.

She turned around in a relaxed posture and walked inside the washroom. After glancing at her cold stance in the mirror, she glided her eyes down towards the unconscious woman lying on the floor. The same red lingerie, the same shade of hair.

She squatted down beside her and let out a sigh. Placing the muzzle of the gun straight over her head, she glanced at her watch. 10:30 pm;

BANG!!

"Business Tycoon of Valencia Mr. Joseph Collins, and his girlfriend and supermodel Tiara Wells, have both been found dead in the Collin's Mansion. Nevertheless to mention, lately the rumors of the couple being involved in drugs peddling has gone viral. Therefore, it is suspected, by the crime branch, as a plotted murder, followed by a suicide. What could have gone wrong with the perfect couple? Our reporters are right now present near the intelligence department, seeking further information."

All the news channels they scrolled, it was the same news, but in different style. Mr. Joseph Collins being an influential businessman, deepened in his roots for a long time, his death wasn't really a small news. A tremor traveled over the whole city and the news traveled faster than light. Thanks to the prompt journalists.

Will turned his heel towards Mr. Alvarez. He kept a pondering stare locked on the screen, while his hands were stuffed inside his pocket.

"Sir!" Will called out dragging his attention off the screen, "There are media personnels waiting for a dialogue with you."

"And what did you do?"

"As you instructed, sir. I did not allow admission."

Mr. Alvarez was a man who was known to work the best under pressure. The times when, even the most calculated people are known to loose their patience, he remained calm. All at the mercy of his old age and his prolonged experience in the department. No doubt, he worked himself to the top and now he sat over the department as the boss.

He pinched the brigde of his nose, analyzing his next step and nodded to himself. He turned his heel towards the main door and Will followed. As they crossed the threshold of the control room and reached the lobby, the chaotic environment created by the journalist beyond the glass fell to his notice.

As the journalist saw him approaching. The remaining ones, who were calm till then, suddenly joined the hussle to grab at least some bit of news for their channel.

As, the security guard, saw him, they opened the main door and the screams and hollering invaded into the lobby. While, the security guards struggled to prevent the journalists from entering the lobby. The head, confidently strided towards the main door and stopped near the hovering microphones.

"When we received the news and reached the location, it was already dusk." Mr. Alvarez started in a solemn tone, "We suspected the murder happened at around ten-thirty, last night."

"What did you exactly find, when you reached there?" A reporter questioned, "If you could give us a little detail."

Nodding his head, he replied, "When we reached there we found Mr Collin lying over the bed.....he was already dead. He was shot, and we believe, it was not by any expert shooter. When we searched through the bathroom, we found Miss Tiara lying on the floor dead and a real close gunshot on her head. She had the gun in her hand, which was holding her fingerprints. We suspect, it was a murder committed by Miss Tiara, before she killed herself.

"Why do you think, she will kill her own partner?"

"Was it even a suicide?"

"Our forensics have showed parallel results. The victim dead. The culprit found, but unfortunately dead. My deepest condolences to Mr. Collins and Ms Wells. May their soul rest in peace. Thank You."

Officer Jacob Thompson, who just reached the location, was witnessing the press conference, with a subtle frown, from the either side of the street, with his hands inside the pockets of his black blazer. As, Mr. Alvarez went inside the glass sliders, some reporters tried to follow suit, but was restrained by the security. As the crowd dispersed off, Jacob went inside the office, skirting past the sectioned cabins, busy with people holding up serious faces and some standing up in their seats as he walked past them. He walked straight towards the glass door of Mr. Alvarez and pushed it open, "Mr. Alvarez!"

Mr. Alvarez kept standing against the glass pane, facing the busy city,"Jake, Come in." he obliged.

" I wanted to know, what's next."

" A plotted murder and the killer committed suicide. Case closed."

"Any further evidence from the forensics?"

"No!"

"You know that the media ain't easy."

"Leave it on me."

The Officer shifted his gaze down to the floor and nodded in assent" Right, sir"

As Jacob turned his heel to leave.

" Jake", Mr. Alvarez looked over his shoulder, keeping his tone intact, " It went quite smooth. Well directed. Well crafted."

He turned his heel, with a smile, "No one guessed even a sh*t and the criminals got their sweet lessons. Well done, Officer Jacob Thompson."

Jacob turned his heel and sent across a smirk, " It was a pleasure!"
