After buying a large iced americano, the two returned in silence. Jaemin sat awkwardly swirling his drink, not knowing whether or not to try initiating more small talk. In the end Jaemin took out his phone instead, not wanting to annoy Jeno more than he probably already did. He texted Taeyong about the Apeach he had bought for him, then told Chenle and Jisung about his current situation, catching them up on his afternoon.

Jaemin bit back a laugh, taking a sip of his drink. Him? Dating Jeno? That was unlikely. He turned off his phone and looked up, making eye contact with Jeno who seemed to be watching him. The two stared at each other for what felt like hours until suddenly Jeno spoke up.

"You rented me starting around 2:50," his serious tone of voice immediately killed whatever mood Jaemin was in. "Right now it's 3:43, meaning our time is almost up. Are you going to pay, or?"

Jaemin snapped out of his thoughts, focusing on what Jeno had just said. "Pay. Right. Uh. My money..." he reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet, counting the money he had left. $12.20. And the fee to rent a boyfriend was...

"What's wrong? Can't you count?" Jeno looked impatient. "20 isn't that big of a number."

Shit. "I only have $12.20. That's not enough." He went into panic. "Can we meet up another time so I can pay back the rest?"

Jeno sighed, clearly irritated. "Listen, just forget it. Next time just don't bother with things you can't afford."

"No! I feel so bad, oh my god. Let me pay you back," Jaemin pleaded. "Here, take what I have first." He felt guilty for not having enough money and the thought of underpaying someone didn't sit well in his heart. "Should we meet here again? How about tomorrow?"

"Well I don't think I'll be coming back, seeing how unsuccessful it was today," Jeno replied coldly. "You're the only one who rented me, and you can't even pay me the full amount."
