I left it all behind, even you

That one blow of the wind takes me back to all those times I thought I left behind,
Those memories tied like beautiful ribbons on the gift of life,
A little splash of glitter, a little splash of hope,
They are my daydreams that I love to relive again and again,
The echoes of laughter, the sound of words that now sound like melodies,
Those dandelions, the sound of someone playing the guitar,
All come back to me, and I replay them like the cassette of my favourite songs,
My memories, the ones I'll live with forever,
They are inked on my heart, like my name and yours on the tree in your backyard,
The sweet scent of summer, the chirp of birds, the feeling of your hand in mine,
All things that I feel now that I go back to the park in a cold December evening,
It's not living in the past, it recreating something that's gone again,
Just for a moment, just to see screens of memories flash and see your own life in a movie.
And keep them all within your heart, hidden in the lyrics of your favourite song,
And sing it out loud whenever you feel alone.
