Marisol's POV- March 2018

"Am I late?" I wondered.

Cody smiled and shook his head as he stood up.

"No, you're early"

I accepted his hug and kiss on the cheek before taking a seat across from him.

"It smells amazing here, and I'm sure everything tastes great, but what do you recommend?"

"We came for the Pho" I answered.

He didn't have a choice, I literally called to order it on my way here.

"Never had it"

I smiled.

"Do you know how to use chopsticks?" I asked.

"A little bit, but its too early in the day to make a fool out of myself"

I laughed and glanced towards the front.

"I'll be right back" I promised as I recognized someone.

Before he could say anything, I  slid out of the booth and took a seat in front of my bestfriend, Lucy who was looking down at her phone.

"Hey, stranger" I greeted.

She looked up and smiled.

"Mari!"

We both stood up and hugged each other.

"What brings you to this side of town?"

The reason she was on this side of town was that she went to school close by.

"I've been craving Pho for about a week," I told her.

She smiled.

"Are you here alone?" we simultaneously asked each other.

We both laughed, but she replied first,

"No, I'm actually waiting on someone. What about you?"

"I'm here with a friend" I answered.

"Who?"

"You don't know him," I said.

She raised an eyebrow.

"Him?"

Her eyes darted around the restaurant before landing on Cody who thankfully was not looking our way. She loudly gasped and touched her chest.

"No fucking way"

Before she could ask anything, the person she was waiting on showed up.

"What are you doing tomorrow morning?"

"Sleeping" I replied.

Lucy smiled.

"I'll come over tomorrow"

I liked Adrian, he had been there for Lucy when Anthony broke her heart. Their relationship was a genuine friendship, almost sibling-like.

"Adrian, you remember, Marisol"

He nodded.

"Yeah, you brought her to a game"

So he did actually remember me.

"Hi" I greeted.

He smiled.

"Hey"

He glanced at Lucy before looking at me.

"Are you joining us?"

Aww, what a sweetheart. It was a shame he did not like Lucy that way because I'm sure they'd make cute babies.

"I'm actually here with someone," I told him.

I gestured towards the booth where Cody was.

"It was nice to see you, Adrian" I said.

He took a seat as I waved goodbye at them. Cody was observing all the food by the time I got to the booth.

"This smells amazing"

I nodded agreeing as I took a seat.

"Taste the broth first" I suggested.

He did as told and hummed.

"Ooh, that was good"

My phone vibrated getting Cody's attention. He said nothing as he watched me lock the screen and flip the phone over.

"How far is your commute?"

"A little more than an hour" I replied.

There were days where I regretted not getting an apartment with a few acquaintances, but I quickly got over it when I heard them nagging.

"Your friend is headed over here"

Cody was right, Lucy was making her way over.

"Mari, I'll see you tomorrow"

I nodded

"What time do you plan on dropping by?" I asked.

"I know how much sleep means to you, so I'll drop by past noon"

How nice of her.

"Sounds good" I noted.

She smiled and glanced at Cody.

"Hi, I'm Lucy"

He smiled and stretched out his hand.

"Cody"

As they shook his hand, I spoke up.

"She knows who you are, her family loves and breathes the Dodgers," I told him.

Cody was a modest guy, so I was not surprised when his cheeks flushed a bit.

"Sorry for the disappointing past season"

To which she replied,

"You can't win them all"

"Lucy actually played Division I Softball for the Sooners" I mentioned.

He smiled.

"Oh, no way. What position did you play?"

"I was a pitcher"

"Cool, cool"

She nodded and glanced up when a honking sound was heard.

"Well, it was nice meeting you. I guess I'll see you around" I told them.

She waved and walked away. Once she was gone, Cody looked at me.

"She seems nice"

Oh, Cody. She could end you.
