Art on Display

You're too fat,ugly,flawed, and stupid
that's what I hear almost everyday
And I never have anything to say
But they still go on and on about my imperfections
Yet here I sit, waiting to for it all to stop, so I can smile and applaud

I am on display
waiting for someone to take interest in me
Tell me whether I am beautiful even though I have a few scars
or an ugly mess that needs to be taken out of sight

They judge and criticize
Telling me if I am worthy or not
The crowd watches as I am tortured by the anticipation
Am I good enough?
Am I rlly too imperfect or scarred?

The judges sit at their table and whisper
But I can still hear them
"Look at how big she is"
"Or how stupid she looks"
And they keep pointing out every flaw on my painting

I am this picture
So imperfect
So ugly
So hurt

I am simply a piece of art
Sitting on this wall
shared with so many other perfect paintings
I stick out like a sore thumb
The unwanted loser
The scarred little girl

But one person stops to look at me
He analyzes every part of my picture
He simply smiles and takes me off of the wall
He walks over to a counter and hands them some green paper

Suddenly I am on a podium
A glass case surrounding me
He walks up to me and holds up a gold plaque
'True beauty' it reads
He puts his face close
starting to analyze my painting once more

"All scars tell a story
whether it be a funny one
or heart wrenching one
they are stories waiting to be told"
He quietly whispers to himself
This is true art that needs to be displayed

A/N soooooooooo, this is the story of a painting that was overlooked
She was painted to show that we are human not some illusion of perfection.
She was painted with bigger than she should be, with scars that tell a story.
She is truly beautiful, inside and out, no matter her imperfections.

Always remember that you don't have to be a size 2, or have perfect skin
You are beautiful! You are perfect
No matter your looks.
