*3 weeks later*

today jack comes back to work after his honeymoon. i truly am happy for him. not everyone is so lucky to find that special someone to spend the rest of their lives with. i hope i can find that one day, maybe even avery could be that person.

and i know it's even crazy to think this but when avery ran out i couldn't help but be jealous. she obviously felt uncomfortable seeing jack move on. which i get, but at the same time it shouldn't be a big deal if she's happy with me.

"hey bro, nervous about jack's return?" derek tossed a ball in the air as he sat against my desk.

"should i be?" i crossed my arms.

"well your girl kind of fleed the scene after seeing him kiss the bride" he shrugged.

"it was nothing" i waved off.

the fact that he's calling her 'my girl' signifies that it didn't mean anything.

"really? did she tell you that? did you two even talk about it?" he asked in disbelief.

"me and avery haven't talked about it because there's nothing to talk about, okay? she's allowed to feel overwhelmed, one of her best friends got married for christ's sake" i raised my voice, over this already.

"okay, okay" he put his hands up in defense and changed the subject.

you wouldn't think a girl like natalie would snore but when i wake up at 7am for work i sure hear it.

i get in the shower before i head downstairs. i was dreading going to work. everyone making rumors about me, asking me how it feels to be a husband, and seeing avery. she obviously walked out during my wedding and i just don't know what to do or say at this point.

as i came into work i was engulfed with 'welcome backs' and stares.

"hey bro" sammy suprisingly came up me.

"hey" i replied with a bro hug.

"how was your 3 weeks in fiji?" he teased me.

"more than i could pay for" i chuckled even though it was the truth.

"well i'm happy for you g, i hope to find my person one day too" he touched my shoulder.

"thank you" i nodded, unsure of his intentions.

"where's avery?" i asked with hesitation.

"actually i'm not sure, she seemed fine last night" he shrugged.

i rolled my eyes at his pettiness and headed to my desk.

after lunch, there's still no avery. i couldn't help but think she was trying to avoid me. though, avery is probably more mature than that. but is she?

i tried to call her but was sent straight to voice mail.

"hey av, just seeing if you're doing okay. you're not one to miss work so i figured you were sick. natalie's throwing this party friday at the house for our honeymoon return if you want to come. anyway feel better, love you, as a friend of course, because i'm married now, as you know. it's jack by the way, gilinsky" i hung up with my head in my hands.

"yikes" johnson says in the doorway as he comes in to take a seat.

"i don't know how to talk to her anymore" i stressed.

"the same way you did before. act like nothing's changed" he shrugged.

"i would love to but that's not exactly easy or possible" i told him.

"look i live with avery and everything is fine. she actually seems to put all of her attention into work and sam" he told me.

"really? so everything's normal?" i questioned.

"she seems kind of quiet towards everyone but sam but i just figured it's normal when you're in a new relationship" he admitted.

"i need to talk to her and clear things, maybe i'll come over tonight" i suggested.

"yeah, she actually planned dinner for some of us anyway" he brought up.

"oh, i don't want to just show up not wanted" i sat back.

she obviously would've invited me if she wanted me there. and i don't want any more fights with her.

"oh shut up. she probably just assumed you were tired or busy since you just got back" he tried to explain for her.

"okay, just follow me home and then we'll ride back together" i gave up.

"great" he gave a cheeky smile before leaving.

he's so obsessed with instigating. most the time he helps so i can't complain.

as i got home, natalie engulfed me in a long kiss before asking why johnson was with me.

"i'm having dinner with them tonight" i told her.

"want me to go?" she asked.

"no, i think its just a small dinner tonight" i told her.

"who's cooking?" she asked with a whisper.

"avery. avery is cooking" johnson butted in.

"better if i stay here anyway, i was gonna relax" she gave a disgusted look.

as we arrived to johnson's, i couldn't help but be a little nervous. who knows how she gonna react based on running out three weeks ago. she probably doesn't want to see me at all.

as we walked in, i was engulfed with smell of turkey and smiled at how hardworking she can be. i still felt uneasy being here, knowing i'm not invited and probably not wanted.

as we entered the living room, she was nowhere to be found. from the sound she was probably in the shower.

about ten minutes later she comes out of her room scrunching up her wet hair. wearing a normal v-neck and some running shorts.

"hey, sorry j i didn't know you'd be here this early" she stopped in her tracks.

"no you're cool, i brought gilinsky is that okay?" he hugged her.

"yeah it's fine. dinner will be ready soon" she shrugged it off and went into the kitchen.

this is gonna be a fun night. when dinner was ready we all sat at the table. it was like a thanksgiving dinner.

"you really went all out, huh?" derek asked.

"i just threw it in the oven, no big deal" she shook her head.

"well it's great" i gave her a faint smile.

"thanks" she returned before quickly returning her attention to her food.
