Zach P.O.V
After attempting to disturb Jack and Alex going at it at Alex's bedroom I walked back into Rians.
"So what is it you wanted to tell me?" I asked, tilting my head.
"Um-Zach I really don't know how to say this...." He trailed off.
"Uh..." Was all I could come out with, I mentally slapped myself. How do I make him comfortable enough for him to spit it out?
"Well..I-Uh...kinda like...someone." He began. Blushing slightly. The Rian Dawson was blushing. The Rian Dawson was actually shy at admitting his feelings about someone.
"Yeah...Go on?"
"I-It's a guy...." He narrowed his eyes, waiting for my reaction.
"Yeah, okay..."
"But he's straight, so I doubt he'll ever like me. And...I dont know...."
"Mmhmm...."
"Zach?" He asked, looking up.
"It's you.."
I froze. What?
"W-what?"
"I knew it'd be like this-You probably think I'm a creep, who's in love with one of his best friends. A bit of me even hoped you'd like me back. I'm such a fool."
I kept quiet. Not knowing what to say.
"I've probably made things awkward now. Sorry Zach. I'm foolish enough to think I would have a perfect relationship with someone having the same feelings as me. Clearly not.
"Rian, I-" I began but he got up and ran out of the room, not soon later I heard the front door slam shut followed by the roar of an engine.
"Ugh, what could have I done?" I groaned.
"Zach? What just happened?" Alex stood at the doorway, Jack behind him.
"Rian confessed feelings for me, he then started saying things about him being a creep and foolish.... I-I didn't know what to say so I just...kept quiet. He assumed it was because I agreed. When in reality I didn't exactly know what to say..." I sighed, rubbing the back of my neck.
"So where has he gone?" Jack asked.
I shrugged. "Probably a drive...or something."
"Dude it's not your fault, he'll get over it in time. Maybe its a phase? A stage in life? He'll figure himself out in time. So just act normally around him. Forget what he told you. He just needs to know that all you'll ever be is friends. Literally brothers." Jack smiled, running a hand through his now half blonde, half brown hair.
I sighed deeply and nodded.
It killed to see Rian so hurt.
