HIS WORK

"Everyone left but you. Won't you too leave and rest in home?" RK

"No I won't go home without you" Madhu

"Madhu you really need to rest. I can see how tired you are. Your eyes are tomato red and there are black circles around it" RK

"I won't leave you RK. I'm stuck with you as glue." Madhu

"I need you to rest. I want my beautiful wife back. Or I will search for a beautiful nurse instead" RK

"It is ok with me. Do whatever you want. But I won't leave you ever" Madhu

"But" RK

"No buts. Try to sleep. You need to rest" Madhu

"Didn't I tell you that you are bossy when I'm ill?" RK

"You always take care of me. Let me take care of you for once" Madhu

"Ok boss" RK

After midnight

"Ahh" RK

Madhu woke up hearing her husband in pain

"What is it Rishabh?" Madhu

"My hand hurts badly. Please increase the painkiller dose" RK

"I can't RK. You are taking high doses for three days now. We have to reduce it. We can't risk addiction" Madhu

"Madhu please. It hurts so much" RK was crying silently from pain

"Bear with me Rishabh." Madhu cupped his face with her hands and wiped his tears with her thumbs

"Increase the dose just a little bit. Please" RK pleaded his wife with his eyes

"I can't RK. Try to think about anything else. Forget about pain" Madhu

"I can't. The pain is too much" RK

"Shush. Don't talk. Shush" Madhu kissed her husband to silent him.

Madhu succeed in distracting RK from his pain. After few minutes, RK drifted in sleep. Madhu left him and slept on the extra bed in the room

Next day

After Madhu had fed her husband breakfast. They were talking

"Thank you" RK

"For what?" Madhu was confused

"For the distraction last night" RK

Madhu blushed then she replied him

"I did what I did as a doctor to help my patient" Madhu

"What? Are you helping all your patients like that?" RK frowned his eyebrows

"Not all of them. The especial one only." Madhu

"Am I especial one?" RK

"Sure. You are my husband, my love and my life" Madhu

"You don't know how much I missed you" RK

"What do you mean missed me? I never left you" Madhu was confused

"No. You left me. For whole three years. You were by my side with your body but not with your soul. I missed you Madhu. I missed my wife" RK said with cracked voice at the end

"I'm sorry RK. I know I was away from you. I kept distance between us. But it was hard for me." Madhu

"Don't you think it was harder for me? You lost your unborn babies yes. But I lost my unborn children and my wife too" RK
