XXXIX

The photographs were starting to crumple under my grip as I felt like ripping my ex-boyfriend into shreds. How dare he act as the victim and make me into a bıtch who broke his not-so-innocent heart? When in reality, he had been screwing Penelope this entire time. How dare he say that he never did anything to hurt me? That lying cheating son of a bloody chicken! Once I'm done with him, he will regret the day he looked at me with those sparkling gooey eyes.

"Angie?"

"What?" I snapped without thinking about it. Only to see Clarissa eying me uncomfortably. "What?" I tried again, this time much softer. "You ripped the photograph." She pointed at the two halves of the same photograph in my each hand.

Oops?

"Sorry?" I sighed before feeling my anger rise again when my eyes landed back on the photographs. "Soon that wouldn't be the only thing that's ripped." I muttered darkly. "Call me if you need help clean up." She shrugged. I looked at her and she looked serious with no hint of humor on her face. She really meant what she said. "You know what?" I started making her lift a questioning brow. "You just might be my soul-mate."

A pleased smirk appeared on her face as she placed her cup on the coffee table too. "I guess, you have somewhere to be then?" I nodded and we both stood up. Me ready to leave and she ready to walk me to the door. I walked back to the kitchen where my stuff was. I paused when I saw Clarissa's half eaten breakfast. I picked up my stuff in time to see Clarissa walk in. "Great timing. I expect you to finish that breakfast once I'm gone. Don't you dare to throw anything away." I warned as I started walking towards the front door with Clarissa on my trail.

I stepped out of the front door before stopping and turning to look at Clarissa."Because if you do, I'll know. Coz, I already contacted Helena, who would be here in a few with the groceries. Oh, and I have booked you an appointment with an obstetrician. You need to get both you and the baby checked up properly. What else? Yes, call me if you need anything, okay? And I mean anything at all." I listed out, in a single breath.

"Evangeline, relax. Take deep breaths. Okay?" She giggled as she asked me to calm down.

"Obstetrician appointment?"

I squeaked in surprise and turned around to see Ryan standing just outside his apartment door. He was professionally dressed and his hair was slicked to the side. He looked at us with curiosity as one of his hands gripped onto the strap of his satchel while the other was shoved inside his pant pocket.

"Is someone pregnant here?" He asked again looking between us. Clarissa and I shared a look before looking back at him and nodding. "Y-yeah, Clarissa is." His eyes widened in surprise before a smile appeared on his face. "That's great news. Congratulations." He smiled at Clarissa. His eyes lingering a second or two too long. He checked his watch and muttered something about being late."Uh, I'm really sorry but my shift starts in an hour or so. I'll see you guys later?"

"Yeah, sure." He smiled gratefully before rushing away.

"You should talk to him." I threw in an advice, to which she gave me a confused look. "Why should I?"

"Do I need to give you a Social Skills 101?" I gave a duh look. "He's your neighbor and friend, who was worried about you. You never know when you need him. Plus he's a paediatrician. He not only specializes in child health but there's a huge possibility that he is good with kids. You will need him at some point." I reasoned.
