Leaving a pyramid, Sora and Nobu – the Japanese researchers – realize that the sky has gone dark.

The woman and the man are the same height. She is feminine with an oval face and big, brown eyes. Her white skin doesn't need make up, and black hair surrounds her graceful neck. Nobu is less European looking than Sora.

"Have we left the pyramid?" Sora asks. She is perplexed by the darkness.

"According to my watch, it's not sunset time, but it's already so dark," Nobu answers.

"And I've never felt a temperature like this," Sora says, feeling it become hotter each instant.

"It shows 122 degrees Fahrenheit," Nobu says looking at the temperature and humidity device.

There are no other people around them; the others have disappeared unexpectedly. The Japanese researchers depart slowly, shining their way with two light-emitting diode lanterns located in their helmets. They examine all around trying to learn. They are not afraid.

"This is not an eclipse," Sora says.

"I agree," Nobu confirms. The lanterns die away, and darkness is total. The wind has calmed down, and it is nearly silent.
