Chapter 11 – Oh My Gosh!

“Nath can we talk a minute” I asked nervously, he turned to face me smiling. He didn’t say anything but nodded his head; I twisted my hands together as I sat next to him. I’d never been nervous around him before so it was all new for me.

“Um, I’m sorry about what happened in the lift” it was the only thing I could think of to start the conversation about the kiss, he rose his eyebrows slightly before replying.

“You don’t need to apologise it was a dare Maggie” and I nodded, I knew that but I’m still not sure I felt about the whole kiss thing, I mean was it bad that I slightly liked it?

“What did you mean by that tweet?” I asked I wanted to know the truth behind it; an unreadable emotion flickered across his face before he returned to normal.

“I’ll explain to you, sooner than you think. I’ll tell you tomorrow okay? He asked and I nodded, I was kind of disappointed that I wasn’t going to find out now, and every possible explanation would run around in my head until he told me tomorrow.

“C’mon lets go to bed” he said and I nodded, it was pretty late and I was tired even though we hadn’t done too much today.

Nathan went in the bathroom while I changed into my pyjamas, once he was done we swapped and I washed before brushing my teeth and walking back to my bunk. Nathan was already on his so I quietly climbed into my bed, his bunk was on the top too on the opposite side which meant if we both left our curtains open we could see each other.

Once I had found a comfortable position, switched off my phone and the little lamp I looked at Nath, I planned on talking to him – although not about the kiss – but my plans were thrown away when I saw he was already sleeping. He had the duvet up to his chin and was cuddling it to his chest, his mouth was open slightly and his brown hair flopped slightly in his eyes. I couldn’t help but smile, he looked so peaceful and cute that I could have just pinched his cheeks! I didn’t bother drawing the curtain and fell to sleep as the bus gracefully sped down a road.

I sleepily sat up but as I did I banged my head pretty hard on the top of the bunk remembering we weren’t in the hotel anymore. I grumbled and peered over seeing if anyone else was sleeping but no-one was in sight. I jumped down and quickly went to the toilet before going to lounge area expecting to see them but that too was empty apart from a note on the table.

‘Helloooo Maggie! If you’re reading this is because we’ve gone to do an interview and didn’t want to wake you. We’ll be back at three so have fun while we’ve gone! See you in the bit love you best buddy Nathan. –  the sexiest man that ever lived Jay – statuesque Siva – Mighty Maximillion and hot shot Tom Parker.’

I laughed as they had each signed their own names and stuck it in my pocket, only then did I notice it was lunch and I had been asleep for ages! I must have been tired! I decided to have a shower and get ready since I knew I couldn’t be pranked when they weren’t in.

Once I was refreshed and dressed I rooted for the cupboards to get some breakfast and settled on cornflakes, it was one of those foods you always ate but still didn’t know if you like it. To be honest it was quite nice being on the tour bus on my own, it was so peaceful compared to normal!

I washed the dish before logging onto YouTube to see if the Jimmy Fallon video was up – it was! So I sat in the lounge area watching it. It was weird seeing myself on TV; I’d never experienced anything like it before. You could tell I was a bit nervous but I don’t think I embarrassed myself too much – apart from when I went bright red when Nathan pulled me on his lap – watching it now I couldn’t help but notice how his arms were wrapped round me and he smiled all the way through.

Overall it wasn’t too bad, I sent the link to my mum and dad since I knew they would want to watch it and logged onto Twitter. I had quite a few new followers and mentions from people seeing me on the show last night, I ignored the horrible ones and replied to all the nice ones before logging off and going back to the kitchen to find something else to nibble on, as I was doing that the door to the bus opened and all five boys clambered back on making a racket as they went.

“Hey Maggie! Had a nice morning?” Nathan asked and I nodded as I put some popcorn in the microwave, I had a craving for it right now.

“It was very peaceful” I said and the other boys either rolled their eyes or commented back, Nathan was still so smug about what he was going to tell me, I hoped he would tell me soon!

It was now just before the boys were about to go onstage for one of their gigs, I was sat on the side of the stage and they were about to run out, I gave Nathan the thumbs up  and he stuck his up signalling he was good to go. The curtain dropped the floor and screams erupted from the crowd, they counted down to five and they all ran on waving to everyone and starting singing Lightning.

We were about five songs in, they had done some of their big hits and the Coldplay medley and were about to belt out ‘High and Low’ which was one of my favourites. Nathan began talking into the microphone interacting with the audience.

“I hope you’re all having fun tonight! Now I owe someone here an explanation so I want to say ‘when your lips touch mine, I know that it’s a little bit frightening, we might as well be playing with Lightning – you know what I mean when I say that, and I want you to know I like you more than a friend” and before he could say anything else the music to the next song started and Jay began singing.

My mouth went dry and I think I went pale, he looked at me from the stage and winked which only meant he was talking to me. I knew he was but it was just crazy to think that. It all clicked, the way he hated George, the way he kissed me back, the tweet. But I couldn’t believe it, I didn’t want it to affect our relationship and I didn’t know about my feelings, I was so confused right now!

I sat on a black square block a bit further back on the side, I tried to think but I couldn’t under the blaring speakers. I think I was freaking out – ok, I know I was freaking out – it was just all so sudden.

What was I going to say to him? We should just stay friends?  I need to think things through? But I didn’t know what to think! It was so frustrating having all these questions and no answers, I guess I could ask one of the boys, maybe Siva since he seems the most sensible out of the lot.

I sat watching the rest of the show fretting, it was one of those situations where if someone asked you for advise in the same situation you could give it, but when it was yourself nothing you thought of seemed to be right.

The music stopped and they waved goodbye to the audience before bowing and running off the stage, they all hugged me and when it came to Nathan he hesitated for a moment before hugging me, I had to admit I liked his hug the best.

“I explained” he said simply and I nodded, I’m not sure why he had to announce it on stage, but I was glad he had now told me, even though my thoughts were frantic.

“Yeah I noticed” I replied, people were already taking down the set moving around us as we stood, it was like we were frozen in time but everyone was at normal pace.

“And?” he asked raising his eyebrow, this was where all the different possibilities were running around in my mind, I just had to pick the right thing to say and hope it was the right answer.
