~In which our hero Viktoria Schmidt learns about Diana Carter and the United States.~
Berlin,Germany
"So can you tell me about life in Germany?",Diana asked
"Well,It's very simplistic. We are in two governments,the German government and the EU.",I said,"We have a president,but the chancellor runs the country."
"We have a president,vice president,a cabinet,a House of Representatives,and the Senate. There are lower levels such as governor and mayor.",Diana said
"What is the House of Representatives and Senate?",I ask
"They represent certain areas in the United States. A district,as we call it. They vote on a bill as we tell them to.",Diana said
"Interesting.",I said,"Germany is one of the most progressive countries."
"We know:Healthcare,free college,and good education.",Diana said
"Yes.",I said,"We're well known for that."
"Yeah,all the United States is known for is having one of the greatest militaries,having a good economy,and a lot of tourists,after Paris,France it is New York City,New York,USA. Many tourists go to Manhattan. One of our five boroughs:Manhattan,Brooklyn,the Bronx,Queens,and Staten Island.",Diana said,"I'm from Manhattan."
"Do you like Manhattan?",I ask
"Eh. It's crowded. Sometimes I wish I was from Staten Island.",Diana said
"Why Staten Island?",I ask
"It's so quiet there. It is more suburban than urban like the other four boroughs. The only thing Staten Islanders hate is riding the ferry because tourists just ride from Manhattan to Staten Island just to see the Statue Of Liberty and get a good shot of it just to brag about to their friends back at home. Once getting to the ferry terminal,they take the next one back to Manhattan.",Diana said,"But I did attend high school in Staten Island,I attended Curtis High School. Curtis Warriors or the C-Dubs."
"C-Dubs?",I ask
"Curtis High School has an amazing football team. They won the last few championships. Well it's not the football you play in Germany. You Germans and other nations might call it 'Tackling-Someone-For-A-Ball-And-Trying-To-Run-And-Survive-Without-Getting-Tackled-Into-The-End-Zone'.",Diana said
"Well I did see a game once. In other countries,we can watch NFL games.",I said
"And the MLB,NBA,and NCAA?",Diana asks
"Yes.",I said
"Well that is good.",Diana said
"Well tomorrow night,I have the Berlin Gala,Do you want to come? Make up a German name.",I said
"Sure. Caroline Ackermann.",Diana said
"Done deal.",I said
