"Ma, why is he here?"
Napabuntong-hininga naman si Maddison Grace sa itinanong ng anak niyang si Lio habang kumakain sa dining table nila ng breakfast. There are four of them that time, Connor Andres who was sitting beside Collin then her and Lio.
"I'm here because I want to be with our family, Lio." Connor simply answered and grinned. Si Cole naman ay halatang tuwang-tuwa na nandoon ang biological father nito.
"You're just here because you got injured." Lio snapped, creasing his forehead at Connor. Parehas naman nagulat sina Connor at Maddison sa inasal nito. Maddie, although was mad at Connor earlier for interrupting her peaceful night with David felt bad with Lio's reply. Hindi naman niya kasi aakalain na ganun ang isasagot nito kay Connor Andres. Although they're not anymore together, Connor is still the father of the twins.
"Lio, he's your--"
"Where's Uncle Daddy, Mama? May ipapatulong po sana ako sa kanya mamaya para sa Science project ko. Nagpromise po kasi siya sa 'kin." Lio quickly said, leaving Maddison and Connor surprised again.
"Uncle Daddy?" Connor uttered in disbelief.
Maddie sighed, "They call David 'uncle daddy'. Nasanay na ang mga bata na tawagin siyang ganun."
"Lio, don't be rude to Dad. He's here because he loves us." Cole answered back, looking mad at Lio. Si Lio kasi ang panganay sa dalawa. But Lio would do things on his own without Cole's intervention.
"No. He's just here because he's bored and injured. He won't be here kung hindi siya nagkainjury." Sagot naman nito at nakarinig naman sila ng busina sa labas. The school bus already arrived at their place. Nauna namang tumayo si Lio at kaagad kinuha ang bagpack niya. Sumunod na rin si Collin. Napatayo na rin si Maddison para matulungan ang dalawa sa pag-aayos ng mga gamit nito. She also handed them her homemade lunches.
"Ma, please tell Uncle Daddy na papaturo po ako sa project mamayang gabi," Lumapit naman kaagad ito kay Maddison at hinalikan ang pisngi nito, "I love you, Mama! Babye po!" Lio immediately ran and went out of their house. Cole kissed her cheek as well then hugged Connor.
"See you later, Dad!" Cole shouted after hugging Connor Andres. Ilang segundo naman ay nakaalis na ang dalawang bata.
Bumuntong-hininga naman ulit si Maddison at muling napatingin kay Connor. Colton was just creasing his forehead with his arms crossed like he was thinking about something very deeply. Last night, when Cole just suddenly appeared while they were bantering at each other, napilitan siya tuloy na payagan itong makitira sa bahay nila. Connor was ecstatic about her decision but she told him it was just for one night and he was going to sleep on the couch. Ni hindi na niya pinakinggan pa ang sinabi nito at kaagad kinarga si Cole para patulugin ulit.
Then the next morning, she actually found him cooking their breakfast already. Just like what he always do when she was pregnant.
"Maghanap ka na ng bahay or apartment na titirhan mo dito. I can let you borrow the kids if you want. I just don't want you sleeping in our home." Aniya rito pero hindi pa rin ito tumitigil sa pag-iisip nito habang nakakunot-noo pa rin.
