"kim sunwoo."

a nudge on his side woke sunwoo up from his deep slumber. totally unaware of the situation, he turned to shot hyunjoon a death glare for the boy dared to interrupt his afternoon nap.

"fuck off, hyunjoon." he hissed and was about to continue his nap when his name was called out once again, only now did he realised, it was the teacher who was calling him.

oops.

clearing his throat to cover his embarrassment, sunwoo put on his signature stoic look and got up to take his test paper from the teacher, acting as if he had done nothing wrong.

the teacher said nothing, but his fed-up expression and his loud sigh that could be heard across the room was enough to tell his real feelings.

when sunwoo returned to his seat, he could feel hyunjoon's glare boring a hole at his head but he promptly ignored it, earning a scoff from the latter.

briefly glancing at his papers, he noticed how he barely passed the test with fourty-five out of hundred.

well, not so bad, he thought. the test was so hard, he didn't even expect himself to pass. you did great, kim sunwoo. he mentally patted himself on the back.

a series of names were called out, sunwoo watching his classmates' reactions upon receiving their marks; some looked utterly relieved while the others groaned in dismay.

"last but not least, my favourite student; im shiho." the teacher literally chirped, his usual bored look was replaced with a big, radiant smile. his smile was so wide; sunwoo thought his lips might be overstretched.

the said girl stood up, calmly making her way to the front. she looked visibly nervous and sunwoo noticed how her hands trembled slightly when she took her papers.

"congrats, shiho. you get the highest marks, ninety-seven out of hundred."

her marks made almost everyone gasped and gaped at her in awe, and soon, everyone was applausing her.

sunwoo looked at the girl in disbelief. how in the earth did she managed to get that freaking high marks?! even if he studied his ass off for years, he doubted he could get such a high mark.

"as expected from the school's perfect girl." he heard hyunjoon mumbled. glancing at him, sunwoo noticed how he had a dreamy look on his face as he stared at the smart-ass girl.

wow. it was the first time sunwoo had seen hyunjoon reacted such way to a girl — she surely was something else.

sunwoo didn't know why he suddenly took interest towards im shiho. they had been classmates since their freshmen year and he had never made initiative to get to know her before.

well, whatever.

pushing the thoughts into the back of his mind, he watched as shiho thanked the teacher, bowed down and returned to her seat.

classmates congratulated her and she would smile in return. her smile, however looks slightly off to sunwoo. it didn't look sincere enough, as if she was forcing it out.

sunwoo kept his eyes on her until she sat on her chair. she must have think that no one was paying attention at her anymore because the smile instantly disappeared.

no one except sunwoo seems to notice how she was gripping on her test papers tightly, her jaws ticking off and she looked almost hurt from staring at the papers.

then, she did the one thing sunwoo least expected; she crumbled the paper and swiftly threw it inside the thrash bin right behind her.

heol, she was definitely something else.
