Chapter 30: Unexpected...

I was still speechless as I saw Zach in this party. I know that he should've been here if his parents told him he had to come, but I feel as if something's not right. Why is he here if he had told Bryce he wasn't coming? What must have changed his mind then? It was as if he had a complete shift in his mood because earlier today he was sad and now he looks as if he's happy.

"Zach! I'm so glad you came! I thought you weren't coming tonight by now" Marie said happily as she embraced Zach in a tight hug. He responded quickly and hugged her back, which snapped me out of my trance. After her speech, we all went to one of the couches and I noticed how Bryce had intertwined his fingers with mine

"I'm sorry that I arrived late, I wasn't feeling so good earlier today" he said and Marie let out a small smile

"You're here and that's all that matters. Greg! Zach made it to the party!" Marie said and Greg smiled before embracing Zach on a hug

"It's so good to see you, but you're late. I thought you weren't coming by now as well" Greg said and Zach looked at Bryce for a moment before replying

"It's okay, but at least I was able to make it just in time for the speech" Zach said and his parents told him how happy they were that Bryce and Zach were able to come before leaving to talk to other people. There was an awkward silence for a few minutes before Bryce broke it

"I thought you weren't coming" Bryce muttered and Zach shrugged his shoulders

"I guess I changed my mind on not coming" Zach said nonchalantly and glanced in my direction for a moment before looking at Bryce again

"What changed your mind then?" Bryce asked and I noticed his sudden change of mood

"Well, I realized that I had to come because it was Mom and Dad's 20th anniversary with the company, and I knew that they would be disappointed if I didn't make it" Zach said and I noticed how his eyes flashed with an unknown emotion before returning to its blank expression. I knew that he wasn't telling the complete truth because he looked uncomfortable for a moment there

"I know you too well to know when you're lying" Bryce said and Zach sighed before giving a hard look towards Bryce

"Well, then tell me why I came here then since you seem to know me so well" Zach snapped and I flinched at his sudden outburst. Bryce squeezed my hand as if asking me if I was okay and I nodded before looking at Zach once again, who was now giving me an intense stare

"Truthfully, I don't know the complete reason obviously but I know that it's something bigger than Mom and Dad's 20th anniversary in the company" Bryce said softly and Zach narrowed his eyes towards his twin brother before walking away from us. I just stood there stunned at how angry Zach looked right now, and I don't understand why he's being like this. Instead of just continuing to dwell on this thoughts, I decided to push them aside for tonight.

Bryce and I ended up going back to the main top floor where everyone was to come back to the party. Right now, I was sitting in one of the couches just watching Bryce dance with his mother. I laughed when she had dragged him to the dance floor and he looked so adorable when he felt uncomfortable for a moment with his mother. I guess I know where he gets his dance skills from because his mom dances really good and Bryce leads her with ease. I couldn't help but go on a trance as I watched him dance because besides how good looking he looked as he laughed with his mom, I was aware of how real our feelings for each other were.
