"Good singing sure makes me hungry." Carlotta tells the girls.
"My arteries are clogging looking at it." The girl Alex spoke to no one in particular.
"Girl you too young to have arteries. Destiny calls herself being a vegan, too." Carlotta spoke. "I'm surprised you never set foot in a church." Carlotta added.
"Nothing wrong with being an atheist." Alex spoke.
"What's up Ms.C." Derek,Destiny's cousin walked over with a few friends. "Hey Nene." He smiled.
"Hey Derek." Destiny ate her veggie burger.
"Now I know you came by for the food cause I certainly ain't see you in service." Carlotta says causing Destiny to laugh.
"We was busy with the activist thing. How y'all doing ladies?" Derek asked as Destiny stood up to throw her food away. "I'm Derek" He greets the girls, "I live next door.".
"And he always activating something." Destiny informed the girls as she sat back down.
"What is it this time?" Carlotta asked.
"Racial inequality in the criminal justice system." Derek answers.
The one thing Destiny can say about her cousin is that he always wants to make things right no matter what.
"I should get going." Destiny stood from the table.
"Bye Destiny." Carlotta told the girl as she left.
Destiny walked next door to her house.
"Aye who that girl that was sitting with y'all?" Derek asked referring to Alex.
"Find our for yourself." Destiny laughed walking to her room.
She sat on her bed pulling her song notebook out. She gently ran her fingers over it. She flipped the cover back, opening to the first page. She smiled at the song titled Bright.

Little boy sitting in the bleachers Staring at, at his dirty sneakers Thinking my shoes don't shine Money is tight, I would never get a date But baby boy that's not what it takes Young man, always at the center Finding ways to make his arms look bigger Saying, "You see those guys?
