Crown Prince Minghao

• your whole life, you have been a very vibrant person

• despite being a princess, you tend less toward the gentle pursuits everyone expects of a girl of your status

• and more toward running, climbing, and tussling with the Knight's son your age who would later become your bodyguard

• so when you were told that you had been engaged to a Prince since you were born

• oh boy were you ever mad

• so as the day you were supposed to meet this Prince Minghao or whatever his name was approached

• you bolted

• ran away without a trace

• naturally throwing your kingdom into a state of panic

• meanwhile over in Prince Minghao's kingdom

• his foreign affairs minister practically kicks the door of the throne room open in a panic with the long-haired ambassador from your country and his guard trailing behind

• "the princess has gone missing" he blurts

• Minghao has never liked the idea of arranged marriages either

• he loves romance and love and hated the idea of forcing it on someone

• he's always known that he wants to marry for love rather than political convenience

• so the instant he knows that you aren't immediately about to appear he decides to split

• he scrambles down the wall of the castle from his window and makes a break for it

• his bodyguard is outside his room so Minghao has to be extra quiet

• but he makes it

• it's six months after you run away

• and you're living a good life in a fairly nice village

• the skills and strength you got tussling with Chan, your bodyguard, are paying off as you work hard to earn your living in the village

• when one day a foreign boy with pierced ears wanders into town

• "hey there, stranger!" you greet him cheerfully. "What's a rich boy like you doing in our little village?"

• he blinks in surprise

• "what makes you say I'm a rich boy?" he challenges

• you laugh, sitting down on the edge of the fountain

• "have you looked at your clothes, bud? Not to mention your earrings."

• "says the girl who has pierced ears herself," the boy shoots back.

• "I've only got two," you retort, "and you've got like five."

• "four," the boy mutters. "Anyway, I'm just here... I'm here for shelter."

• you look him up and down and notice that he's bruised and his clothes are ripped

• "what brings you here that you need shelter?" you half challenge

• he hesitates

• "an unwanted marriage," he mutters. "Enough information for you?"

• you fold your arms, looking up at him
