Josh knocks on the door. I jump, startled.

"Maya, I'm kind of worried. It has been ten minutes. Are you okay?" He asks.

"Josh, last night, did you use protection?" I ask. I know he did, I just want to make sure the condom wasn't fake. He walks in and I quickly shove the sticks in my back pocket.

"Yeah. I did." He says. "Maya, where are the sticks?"

I start crying and he holds me. He knows. He kisses my hair.

"It's okay. We're gonna get through this. This is our baby." He says, placing his hands on my stomach.

"I wasn't on the pill yesterday. Or any day." I say.

He still has his hands on my stomach.

"People forget things, Maya. Even though we were half protected, condoms only work ninety-seven percent of the time." He says. I look at him strangely.

"How do you know so much about this?" I ask. His face turns red.

"Even though Sex-Ed classes are optional, my parents forced me to take it." He says.

I laugh.

"Same with Riley's," I say. He's still holding me. A tear runs down my face. "I'm scared." I say.

He nods. He kisses both of my cheeks, the side of my lips and my forehead.

"I know baby." He says. I push him away.

"You don't understand," I say. He looks at me strangely. "I'm scared I'm going to end up like Riley. Where the father abandons her child."

He looks at me seriously and places both of his hands on my shoulders.

"I will never do that." He says. My breath trembles. He places his arms around my waist. "We're married now. Forever and always. Whatever happens, we'll face it together. And trust me when I say this, I've never been happier."

"Are you sure?" I ask. He nods.

"Positive." He says. I kiss him.

"I love you." I say. He smiles.

"I love you, too." He says.
