Out Of Time

 "Dean, you're injured, unarmed and outnumbered, this is crazy! He's going to kill you if you don't let us help!"

 "Do you trust me?" Dean asked.

 "With my life!" Roman answered without hesitation.

 "Then stay away! I know what I'm doing Rome." 

 "Okay." Roman agreed reluctantly. "Be careful Dean, I love you."

 "I will and I love you."

 Suddenly, the connection was gone and everything went black for a few seconds, before Roman was thrown back into his body. His eyes shot open and he sat up taking a deep breath of air, before he began coughing; now he knew what it felt like whenever Dean mindlinked and he didn't know how he was able to do it all the time, it was painful! Instantly, Seth, Zander and Paige were by his side, he could see them, but he couldn't make out what they were saying, all he heard was a ringing in his ears. He gasped for air; it was like his body had suddenly forgotten how to breathe. He felt someone take his hands in their's, as slowly sounds returned to him and he could hear Zander's calm voice speaking to him, he turned to look at him, trying to focus on his gentle words of encouragement. 

 "That's right, good, good! Deep breaths Roman, in and out, in and out." Zander coached him, as his breathing slowly returned to normal.

 "Ro, are you okay?" Seth asked nervously.

 "Ye...yeah, I'm good." Roman answered honestly, as he smiled weakly at him. "I just need a few seconds to rest, I don't know how Dean does it; I feel so weak and tired."

 "That's to be expected, mortals aren't meant to mindlink." Zander said gently. "It's not easy for our kind either, from everything Dean's told me about it."

 "If mortals aren't supposed to be able to mindlink, then how was I able to?" Roman asked, confused.

 "I don't know Roman, I'm sorry." Zander replied. "I've only ever known of Vamps being able to see a mortal's past, I've never known any mortal who was able to mindlink like you did with Dean; it's not even spoken of in the prophecy."

 "Is it possible to do it again?" Roman questioned.

 "I don't know that either, I'm sorry! This is all new to me as well remember? I don't know much about mindlinking, I have no answers to your questions."

 "Don't be sorry, it's okay." Roman said smiling sadly, starting to feel stronger now.

 "What happened? Did you find out where Dean is?" Paige asked.

 "I found him, yes." Roman replied, as he stood, knowing they weren't going to like what he told them, hell he didn't like it!

 "Good! Come on, let's go get..."

 "No!" Roman said firmly, cutting Paige off.

 "What?" Seth asked confused, as all three looked at him.

 "We...we can't go after him!"

 "Why not?" Zander questioned, all three were confused by his sudden refusal to find Dean.

 "We can't because Dean told me that we have to stay away and I trust him to know what he's doing, and now you three need to as well."

**With Dean**:

 After the mindlink ended, Dean hung his head and closed his eyes, trying to keep his tears from falling. His heart ached and he'd give anything to be with Roman again, but to do that he needed to escape and that meant getting out of these damn chains! He pulled on the chains for a few minutes, when nothing happened, he sighed and gave up, he needed a way to get someone to let him out. He knew he could do a lot of new things now since his powers have grown stronger and that made him wonder if he could control someone and make them do what he wanted? He'd need to practice first of course, he couldn't just try it on Keeper or Vassago and hope it worked, if it didn't then they'd know about his powers and kill him. No, what he needed to do was try it on a regular Vamp, then he could practice as much as he needed and no one would know.
