"You found a what?" I say trying to sound like I didn't hear him. But I heard him well. Very well. Crystal clear. The words were almost spelled out in the air for me. I think for a second before answering. I also notice everyone in the salon is staring at me. I do have my phone on speaker. I'm so scared, I don't even have time to feel embarrassed. I take a breath and get my thoughts together. I start to speak calmly and unbothered. "Where was it at exactly?" I giggle.
"In your covers " I can literally feel the seriousness in his voice. This is the most stern I have ever heard Tim speak.
"Well that's gross" I say, and giggle again. "Newsflash , I didn't sleep in my bed last night, Ray and Jay did." I say with my usual matter of fact tone. Tim's voice starts to soften.
"So I'm guessing I should wash these sheets" Tim says.
"Nobody told you to go through my sheets. What were you doing exactly nigga?" I say, switching the focus on him.
"I was actually cleaning your house and decided to make your bed. When I spread out your comforter, a condom wrapper fell to the floor" says Tim.
"What kind?" I ask.
"Looks like a regular Trojan" replies Tim.
"Wouldn't be mine anyway, I only fuck with magnums boo" I say playfully. Tim starts to laugh.
"You're a trip" says Tim.
"But thanks for cleaning the house. You don't have to do all that"
"I'm your man. I want to make sure you're taken care of" The words come out like butter. So smooth, yet sincere. My heart sinks into my stomach. I'm not sure if it's the thoughtfulness or the guilt.
"I lo-" I pause. What the fuck was I about to say.
"Huh?" Says Tim
"Huh?" I repeat.
"What did you say hun? I didn't catch it " Tim says, as if he knew. He sounded anxious.
"I loaned ....um.. Toni some money , so uh, she might stop by the house to drop it off" This lying thing is starting to become a horrible habit.
"Oh.. ok" Tim says, forcing himself to sound cheerful. But I knew he wasn't. Disappointment pierced through his voice, and couldn't be hid.
"Well, I'll talk to you later hun. Thanks again, I'll be there soon. " I say trying to rush him off the phone.
"Ok Mighty Mouse" his voice softened. I look up and everyone in the salon is staring. My eyes widen and I frown.
"So who did you fuck in that bed with ya fast ass?" Tammy says as she continues to comb my hair.
"What are you talking about?" I try to sound convincing as possible.
"First of all, we both know you ain't gon let two queens fuck all over your bed. You'd never get the smell of douche water out your mattress " Tammy says nonchalantly. "You cheated on that boy, admit it."
"I didn't cheat. We technically weren't together"
"Well if y'all weren't together, why did you lie?"
"It's complicated." I say , sighing loudly.
"We have time lovely." Tammy replies. While guiding me to the wash station, I confine in Tammy about my situation. By the time she finished washing my hair , I finished the story.
"So basically you feel like you have to choose between the thug and the good guy " Tammy says.
"I don't know" I shake my head. I look around and everyone is pretending not to be in our conversation,
"You stupid" Tammy says.
"How?" I ask offended.
"You shouldn't be with either of them. That Tim guy appears to be the "good guy" but with everything you're telling me, he seems like he's hiding something. I wouldn't trust him. " Tammy says like a wise mother.
"Or be with them both" A girl under the dryer chimes in. I can see a few women nod in agreement.
"Wait, what?" I ask shocked. The girl continues.
"Jay is obviously side-nigga material. He literally lied to your boyfriend for you. That sounds like a side-nigga to me" another girl getting braids chime in as well.
"He also put it down on you better than any nigga has so far. Why not keep that around ?" The salon is filled with "mmhmm"s and "yaaas girl"s . The girl under the dryer continues.
"Look at it this way, if Tim turns out to be a fuckboy you'll still have Jay to fall back on"
"It doesn't seem right though" I counter.
"Niggas do it all the time ! If Tim turns out to really be the guy he portrays to be, then just stop dealing with Jay" The girl getting braids says.
"Always take advice from random women in a salon concerning your relationship. I'm sure they know best " Tammy says sarcastically.
"They make a good point though. I just don't know if I could follow through with something like that " I say.
"I wouldn't " replies Tammy. "But if you want to be a lying hoe, go ahead. This is a no judgement zone baby" I roll my eyes at Tammy as she continues to do my hair.
After getting my hair done and leaving the salon, I pull up to my house. I sit in the car, contemplating. I feel strongly for Tim. I might even love him. He laughs at my jokes, and is always down for whatever. He's thoughtful, and very intelligent. I really don't have a reason to be anything but real with Tim. He doesn't deserve to be played. Especially considering what Jessica put him through. I am nothing like her. Jay is so fine though. He's smooth , adventurous, sexy, and protective. When I'm around him, there's just this instant chemistry between us that's just undeniable. Wait. I don't even have Jay's number. I just realized we never exchanged numbers. Plus, he's probably pissed at me for that stunt I pulled. Or maybe not. He kissed me on my cheek as if he was telling me we were good. It's irrelevant. Again, I don't have his number.
All signs point to Tim and just Tim. I decide to go inside finally.
As I open the door, the lights in my living room are dim. I hear "Trey Songz - Neighbors" playing and I realize the dim lights were lit candles. Rose petals trail from the front door into the kitchen. I walk slowly toward the path, covering my mouth. I am completely surprised and overwhelmed. I get to the kitchen table and there is a plate of food sitting on each end with a bouquet of roses in the middle. The plate is set with roasted chicken , mashed potatoes and broccoli. I stand and stare at the arrangement. From the distance I hear the toilet flush in the bathroom, and see Tim walk out the bathroom.
"Oh, you're here a little early " he says with a grin on his face.
"You gon wash your hands ? Ooor...." I say looking at him up and down. I crack a smile.
"You right. My bad" he jogs back to the bathroom. I sit at the table and pull out my phone. I see a few unread messages. I open the first one, and it's from Ray. He sent it only a few minutes ago.
Hey hoe. So what happen!!? Yo pussy inside out yet? It read.
Nothing lol. And no. He just thinks you and Jay go together like we said. I replied.
Biiiiitch. I wish!! That nigga makes me wanna be a bottom again! He replied.
Lmao. You didn't happen to get his number did you? I texted.
No mam, I did not. And if you didn't, you is really dumb. He replied. Tim comes back from the bathroom.
"I love your hair. You look amazing" he smiles and kisses me on the lips before sitting.
"Thanks hun. You really didn't have to go through all this trouble." I say with my arms spread out.
"This is nothing. I figured a romantic dinner here would be better than going out. I just want to show you how much you mean to me Kali" Tim grabs my hands gently and holds them from across the table.
"Or you tryna get some pussy" I say playfully.
"Guilty" Tim bites his bottom lip. I laugh and smile at him softly.
"Let's see what this dinner is tasting like." I grab a fork and a knife and cut a piece of chicken breast. I put it in my mouth and it bursts with the flavors of garlic and pepper. It's delicious. "Mmm. This is actually amazing" I say with a mouth full of chicken. Tim smiles at me.
"I know my way around the kitchen love" he takes a bite as well. We both continue eating and Tim tells me about his day. We ask each other random questions about one another and he pours us a glass of wine.
"I start back work at the end of the summer and I'm pretty excited. I miss the kids" I say.
"It's still pretty hard to believe you're a teacher" says Tim.
"And why is that fucker?" I ask
"Umm, for that very reason " Tim responds giggling. "Do you talk to your students with that mouth ?"
"Of course not, I don't talk to my students with the mouth I suck dick and curse with" I say jokingly.
"I hope not " Tim says giggling.
"Do you want to see my class picture from last school year ?" I ask with a little excitement.
"Sure, why not? Tim replies. I get up and jog up the steps into my room. I look in my nightstand drawer and take out a folder. I search through a few papers until I find the class picture. As I'm about to walk out the room, I hear a strange sound. I stop and look around. The sound continues. It's a buzz, like something vibrating. I remember my phone is downstairs on the kitchen table and confusion hits my face. The buzz continues and I follow the sound. I also remember Tim was texting on his phone at one point at the table so I know it's not his phone either. I open the draw to my second nightstand, where I usually put my keys and see an old flip phone. It's not mine, but it continues to vibrate. I go ahead and answer it.
"Hello?" I say very proper and confused.
"Looks like I left my phone there" I immediately recognize the voice.
"Jay?!" I say at a loud whisper.
"Aww, look at that. You already recognize my voice." He says.
"Why is your phone in my drawer?" I still whisper.
" I put it there, plus it's a spare phone " says Jay.
"Like. A trap phone ?" I ask
"No. Like a spare phone. What is your obsession with trap shit?" Jay asks
"What is your obsession with me?" I counter.
"I don't have an obsession. I simply forgot to get your number, so I figured I'd leave my phone there and call you on it later. " Jay says smoothly.
"Couldn't you have just given Ray your number to give me ?" I ask.
"Didn't want to risk him getting the wrong idea. I already pretended to be his boyfriend" Jay replies .
"Ok, why didn't you just ask Ray for my number?" My whisper voice gets higher.
"Here you go again with the questions. Look. That phone only has a few minutes left on it , meet me at the park out Mt. Trashmore at 10pm. " says Jay.
"It's already past 9?! For what?" I reply.
"Ok? So? And we just kickn it "says Jay.
"I'm with Tim" I say.
"Make an excuse. You're an exceptional liar as I witnessed earlier today. Plus. You owe me. I'll see you in an hour" Jay hangs up
"Kali? You good up there?" Tim yells up the stairs.
"Yea, here I come!" I yell back down to Tim. I take the phone, and put it in my bra. I head back downstairs with the picture.
"You ok? You look bothered " Tim asks.
"Actually, I totally forgot my wallet at the salon" I say thinking quick on my feet.
"Oh dang. How did you do that ?" Tim asks.
"I just remembered I took it out to pay Tammy and left it at the station. I'm so slow. I'm just gonna swing by over there before they close." I say , urgently grabbing my things.
"Do you want me to come with you ?" Tim asks
"No!" I shriek. I clear my voice. "No. I mean, you do so much. It will only take me a minute." I look at Tim's face and it's full of concern. I realize I have at least 30 minutes until I have to leave. I don't know what I'm doing at this point , but I'm definitely not acting like myself. "How about I give you a going away gift ?" I say, walking toward Tim slowly and smirking.
"But you're coming right back " Tim says confused.
"Just shut up and pull your dick out" I say rolling my eyes. Without hesitation Tim pulls it out, already semi hard. My mouth waters. I almost forgot how good Tim's dick looked. I get on my knees and make love to it. Bobbing my head and slurping loudly. I look up at him and his eyes are rolled into the back of his head, while he bites his tongue. He looks so good I think to myself. I could just stay here and finally have sex with T-
My thoughts are cut off by the taste of semen. Unprepared it instantly spills down my throat. My stomach full of food , and wine turns automatically and I shoot vomit from my mouth onto Tim's lap.
"Aww shit!" Tim screams.
"Oh my God I'm so sorry!" I panic. A feeling of embarrassment goes through me. I sit there kind of frozen. I just threw up all over this nigga like the exorcist.
"No it's okay. I should have said something " Tim says with his face scrunched up.
"Ya think?" I say slightly irritated. "You came within the minute!"
"My bad! It just felt really good. That's a compliment to you !" Tim says giggling. "Look, I'm gonna go ahead and get cleaned up. Go ahead and get your wallet." My stomach sinks again. I can't believe I'm actually meeting up with Jay. Regardless, if I don't want this to continue anymore, I need to let him know that.
I get cleaned up, brush my teeth, and head out. I'm about 5 minutes away from my destination. My mind is racing, yet my body is hot. Am I seriously horny thinking about this nigga ? I sigh to myself. Suddenly I see blue police lights flash behind me. "Fuck. Seriously? I'm not even speeding!" I look up on my dash and realize my lights aren't on. I pull over to the side and turn my lights on. I sit patiently waiting for the officer to walk up. By the time he does, I'm already a little irritated. I roll down my window and smile , and with charisma I start to speak. " I know, I know. I just realized I didn't have my lights on officer. Thank you so much for pulling me to let me know that. I'm glad you noticed it before it was too late and-"
"Mam. " the officer cuts me off with his country twang. I look up at him. "I know you .... I thought you were deaf!"
" I uh..."
"Get out of the vehicle , now !"
