xxv. peas

19 3 5

We were not two peas in a pod,

Because life offered us different trees, different

Leaves, different paths to weave and to

Perceive.

I mean,

We were born under the same

Malaysian sun and skies and

City tricks and lies and

I may have tasted the

Chill of frost and ice and

Swore maybe once or twice but

Ultimately, internally, we were

The same.

We were

Chasers of dreams,

Not fighting on one team, but

Still, we believed in

The right to blossom into

Productive, little plants that could

Make a little difference to this

Otherwise dreary world.

I mean,

You were country and soul.

And I a little rock and roll, and

A little exposed to

Inevitable trips to the dumps named

Depression, where fights equaled

Self-aggression but the fact

That you could inspire this fire to

Burn up this desire to

Sort out the wires and

Stand up, not tired.

I mean,

You made a difference.

And I get that, even though we

Were not two peas in a pod, were not

Fighting the same wars or

Went through the same doors, but

Inside these bursting cores

Gleamed passion but yours

Just seemed to

Die out a little

Too

Fast.

And I hope

That up there,

You've finally

Found your resolve.

You've reached the end of published parts.
