Chapter 25 | Until We Meet Again
"They're here," Maha spoke, a little breathless from climbing up the stairs right up to her brother's bedroom. As soon as she stepped inside, her shoulders sagged at the damp heaviness that hung in the air around them, poignant and pregnant with an outburst that was yet to come.
Saboor had Aaryan's phone in her hand and her head bent low, while Aaryan sat with a hand on his knee and another on his bed to support himself. Maha's gaze passed between the two silently, before she whispered a bismillah and spoke up.
"Are you ready to go?" Maha questioned Aaryan, her tone lowered.
"Of course he is," Saboor snapped. The distaste on her expressions couldn't combat the iciness of her tone. Maha wondered what had her so riled up. Saboor then turned to Aaryan. "Don't make it too long. Get it over with as soon as you can."
"Not everyone is as mechanical as you-" Maha started.
"-you were the one shedding fake tears and brainwashing him to get rid of Sundus. Now that it's finally happening, you really have to step in and tell us all we can't be insensitive?"
