The Girl They Never Noticed

Chapter 14

Well that brings us to now; Chemistry Lab. Our new teacher looked as old as Mr.  Blake, if not younger. He showed some promise in being a good teacher, but of course no one can ever replace our amazing teacher; peace be on his soul.

Our new teacher, or Mr. Lucas, as he wants us to call him, has short blonde hair, wears thick rimmed glasses, and apparently graduated last semester from UCLA with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in organic chemistry. Smart as heck, and so as not to lose another teacher to a crime, he's skilled in martial arts; karate, ju-jitsu, and even capoeira.

I was keeping track of Mr. Blake's investigation, but since there were no fingerprints or even surveillance cameras, it was dubbed unsolved. I feel bad because I think that I may have something to do with it. I think that whoever brought me to the hospital, might be the same person who tried to kill me, and the same one who broke into our house yesterday. I still needed to call my parents.

Suddenly, the door opened, and CJ Walker came inside. I remembered his name YES! He introduced himself to the teacher and sat down in front of Jace and I, not before he looked at me with pain and sorrow. Either from something he knows that I don't, or because it has something to do with his bandaged hands.

"Hey CJ, is your hand ok!" I asked.

"Ya it's fine Alexis. Thanks for asking." He replied with a smile.

Class ended before it even began because Mr. Lucas just wanted to cover the basics with us.

Next I had English then Physics. Perfecto.

Finally break came along and as I made my way to the cafeteria, I found Jace waiting for me, looking around like a lost puppy. He smiled when his eyes landed on me.

"But Lexi, what if they don't like me? I've never had real friends before." He asked as we made our way to the line.

"I'm sure they'll love you once they get to know you Jay, as long as you stop acting like the energizer bunny on crack." I said, which made him chuckle.

"You're really changing my life Alexis, I don't know how to thank you." He said.

"There's no need to thank me Jace. I'm happy that I'm helping you." I said, grabbing my chicken strips and fries. Jace got the same thing.

As I made my way towards our table, I could see Jaycee eyeing Jace like he was about to pounce on him. When I put down my tray, everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at us but as soon as they were surprised, they snapped out of it. You gotta love them.

"Hey Lex! Hey Jace!" Waved Sabrina.
Everyone welcomed him into our table; except for Jaycee who didn't take his eyes off of him.

"I thought you guys didn't like me. What changed?"

Sabrina started, "If Lexi has a good reason to actually be on talking terms with you, we're ALL good with you." She nudged Jaycee, who still didn't take his eyes off of him.

Then Brenda chimed in, "If she can forgive you, we definitely can hun." He smiled at her, blushing, his eyes lingering on her a second longer than anyone else.

Ashton and Aaron looked at each other and simultaneously said, "MORE GUYS IN THE GROUP YAAASSS!"

I looked at him and whispered, " I told you so."

His eyes were almost teary, "I can't thank you enough." Then he went to make his way beside the guys.

Meanwhile, Jaycee loudly got up, and started walking away, leaving his chair lying on the floor.

I decided to mess with him a little.

"Don't want a stupid frenzy infection, don't you?"

He froze in his place, his muscles tensing, still not turning around. Then he walked away.

"What's up with loverboy today?" Asked Sabrina.

"You never know to be honest." I said, cramming the fries in my mouth.

Looking at Jace, I could see that he was talking to the guys as if he's been their friend forever. He caught my looking and gave me a nod; and I knew that everything would be ok.

I got a text message from my dad.

"Hey bunny, your mom and I are traveling tonight and we'll be back in 3 weeks. I don't think it's safe for you to stay alone, so either have one of your GIRL friends stay over or you can go stay with them; whichever is best for you. We love you so so so much and we'll hope to see you soon❤️❤️😘"

Well, ok. That means I have to tell them what Happened. I looked at my friends, took a deep breathe and told them everything. Probably leaving out Jaycee's meltdown.

"You'll definitely stay with me!" Said Brenda.

"Wait! You have a brother?" Said Jace.

"No I don't. I don't think so anyway. But there was a guy who dropped me off at the hospital and claimed to be my brother."

"Are you sure you don't know who owns that truck?" Asked Ashton, literally choking himself with food.

"No, I've seen it several times but never really saw anyone inside it."

"Wait!" Jace said, making us all stop and look at him. " Do you guys mean that bluish purple pick up truck?"

"Ya" We said simultaneously.

"Oh. That belongs to CJ Walker."
