15.Brother

Klaus could not take it anymore he felt as if he were dying of bordom when he had the great idea of calling Amber.
He removed his phone from his bedside table and called her
the phone rang thrice before she answered

"Ambs love how are ya" he said cheerfully

"I'm...eh" she said in a bored tone

"What happened?" He asked sitting up his voice taking on a serious edge

"I found out Caleb was cheating on me" she said her voice cracking a little

"And how are you dealing with it do you need me there with you?" he asked thinking about how he could go see her without anyone finding out.

"no its fine" Amber said a little smile springing on her lips this was exactly what she needed and she was glad he had called

"you are always welcome to join everyone here if you want to" he said hoping she would say yes

"Thank you for the offer but hold on" she said answering a male voice that had just called her,Klaus couldn't help but listen in to their conversation as she had not put the call in hold allowing him to hear all she said

"You ready babe?" a male voice said
"Yeah let me just finish up and then we can head out" She said before returning to her call

"So Klaus I have to go now I'll call you later" she said hanging up leaving him in the dark wondering who it was Amber was talking to if she and Caleb broke up who was this mystery man ,throwing his phone on his bed he went downstairs to get himself a glass of water.

"What's keeping you up" Apollo said making Klaus jump slightly before settling down

"Just talked to Amber" he said solemnly sitting across from his brother and taking a sip of his water

"How is she?" Apollo asked his voice dripping with the bitterness he felt while giving his brother a withering eye

"What's that supposed to mean" Klaus said getting on the defensive and lifting his guard back up

"Oh don't act so innocent ,we both know you are fu<king her" Apollo said viciously raising his voice while glaring at his brother

"And if I am?" Klaus said smirking as he watched his brother's face crumple and be overtaken by rage

"She has a boyfriend ,how can you be so cruel and seduce someone happy?" Apollo said staring at Klaus in disbelief at his brother

"not anymore" Klaus said smirking 

"What did you do?" Apollo asked narrowing his eyes 

"Nothing at all ,he was cheating on her and she found out" Klaus said solemnly 

"Oh" Apollo said dumbstruck "how is she taking it?"

"She seems okay,I asked if she wanted to come here but she refused" Klaus said with a puzzled frown on his face as he turned to sit on the patio looking up at the night sky and marveling at the stars and the constellations they formed

"What's got you troubled?" Apollo asked sitting next to him

"nothing" Klaus said in a clipped tone 

"Brother I've known you your whole life ,talk to me" Apollo said placing a hand on Klaus' shoulder 

"I think...no I know I love her" Klaus said placing his head in his hands and running his fingers through his hair 

"I lover too" Apollo said letting out a heavy sigh

"but she loves neither of us" Klaus said his voice echoing the defeat he felt 

"I have to agree on that with you brother, no matter how much we can try I doubt anything will change" Apollo said laughing bitterly

"Why don't we talk anymore?" Klaus asked after a long pause

"I have no idea ,but I think we should try at least be civil to each other" he said holding his hand out to Klaus

"Its because of father" Klaus suddenly blurted out

"What about father?" Apollo asked intrigued

"The fact that he is always comparing us ,makes me feel like I am not amounting to his expectations of who I should be,and you don't make it any easier because you then strive to be the perfect son" Klaus said cradling his head in his hands 

"I didn't  know you felt that way" Apollo said thinking of all the moments Klaus lashed out at him over the years 

"But yeah lets have a truce then,because I don't think I can continue to hate you any longer" Klaus replied taking Apollo's handshake a small smile threatening to breakout because although he may have been acting cold and vicious but he had missed his older brother .

"Well I will see you in the morning" Apollo said heading inside his head full of thoughts as he tried to analyse all the telltale signs of his brother's decent and how he could have stopped it from happening but eventually he realized that there was nothing he would gain from dwelling on the past and what he could actually do was try and be there for his brother now.
