"Amber" Caleb gasped when he saw her in the doorway "this isn't..."

"what it looks like" Amber finished that damned phrase for him "that I didn't just see you with one of my best friends huh" she asked as he remained quiet. "and you Landria I trusted you how could you do this to me" she yelled

"just listen I can explain, baby please" Caleb begged her

"don't you dare call me that ,and to think I was ready to give myself to you" Amber scoffed leaving him dumbstruck

"you what" he said gaping at her the wheels in his head turning .Caleb could not believe his ears if only he had been more patient with her but she had been so damn adamant on waiting, for what he didn't know it's not like she was a virgin everyone knew that, girls never dated her ex and remained innocent it was just something Caleb knew HE would not do ,and the whole town knew HE was no gentleman ,so the reason she wanted to wait had been lost to Caleb and as her words rang in his ears as she turned to leave forgetting her suitcase in the process

Once outside Amber walked for a few blocks before taking out her phone,she knew she had promised herself a long time ago never to call him but Amber was feeling desperate as she dialed the number she remembered all this time hoping he still had that phone after a few rings he picked up

"what" he said

"come get me" Amber said her voice breaking a little

"what happened" he asked and Amber could feel the anger in his voice he never did like to see her cry even after all this time and Amber knew he would still kill or die for her if she ever asked ,that was what had scared her before ,how easy it was for him to go off

"please" she begged the tears running down her face

"fine I'll be at the diner in 10 mins" he sighed and she heard him rustle

"Were you asleep .It's okay I'll figure something out I can find some..." she rambled

"Amber shut up" he snapped "I'm coming to get you okay" he said his voice softening

"okay" she agreed before he hung up
She placed her phone back into her pocket and began walking to the diner where it all began the place where she had met him and the memory never failed to bring a smile to her face .
■Flashback■
She had just turned fifteen, got the job a week before at Rover's and was still shadowing Amy when Amy had a family emergency to deal with because her son had broken his arm and rushed to the hospital leaving Amber to cover her tables.
It was all smooth sailing until a group of seniors had walked in and sat at one of Amy's tables

Suddenly the short red fluffy skirt,tight white blouse that showed too much boob than was necessary and roller blades she was wearing made her feel over exposed and the feeling only intensified due to the searing look one of them gave her ,he had green eyes that unnerved her,his hair is what grabbed her attention the most as she couldn't tell if it was red or black and it only added to the sinister aura around him ,he had the face of an angel but Amber knew better for this particular senior was one of the most feared and sought after boy in their school and all the other guys knew not to cross him and the some of the girls happily threw themselves at him knowing full well that be didn't do attachments this boy could ruin her with a single word of she offended him in any way but Amber could not let Amy down so she steeled her nerves.

"welcome to Rover's what can I get you this evening" Amber said with a smile

"a date would be nice" one of the boys with a Latin accent said eyeing her with a smirk making her eyes widen slightly a blush covering her cheeks

"Roman stop trying to be Casanova it's getting embarrassing" a girl with blond hair said hitting him upside the head while everyone laughed

"ah Caren why you gotta mess with my swag" Roman replied with a hurt look on his face

"Roman why, please never use the word swag again my poor ears I might have to carve them out" a black guy who was sitting next to Caren said

"anyways sorry for these idiots Amber and we'll have the hangover combo" Derek a guy she had drama club with said with a wink that never failed to make her blush

"um sure Dee" she squeaked before turning to give their order to the kitchen
All the while HIS eyes never seemed to leave her even as she served other tables .
Amber was only able to breath when they had left.

When she had locked up and began here journey home was when she saw him leaning against a wall a cigarette between his lips .Amber glanced around but there was no other route to follow she had no choice but to pass by him so she looked at the ground and walked faster.

"Hey" he said as she walked by him but Amber didn't stop instead she kept walking when he grabbed her arm "Stop!" he said sternly making her freeze
"why did you ignore me" he asked but she remained silent "oh don't go all quiet on me now ghrá (love) I know you can talk" he said sounding amused

"I don't want any trouble I just want to go home" she stuttered her eyes wide in alarm

"Relax I just wanted to ask if you wanted a ride home" He smiled down at her "a beautiful girl like you should not be around these parts alone at night" he smirked

"oh I'm okay you don't need to bother yourself I just forgot my bike and I'm usually out before sundown ,plus I'm almost to the bus stop and I have nothing worth stealing did you know that the Vanessa cardui butterflies have a life span of 12 months that if they are not eaten by anything as a caterpillar or when they become fully fledged butterflies its quite sad even that something so pretty is so fleeting oh and..." she rambled as an amused smile appeared on his face

"Hey" he said cutting her off "I don't mind in fact I insist on accompanying you and I am not taking no for an answer Amber" he said pulling a blushing Amber towards his car opening the door for her.

Amber had no choice but to accept so she did and did not say anything,after that day he would drop her off everyday over the whole summer
END OF FLASHBACK

Seeing Rivers Diner ahead she quickened her pace and sat at a table by the window waiting for him to arrive while scrolling through her phone and deleting the missed calls,voice mails and messages he had sent her.
A while later a baby blue mustang pulled up and Amber slid out of the booth leaving a tip in the tip jar even if she had not ordered anything.
"oh no please no" she exclaimed trying to get out of the car but the doors were locked
"nice to see you too princess,didn't you miss my absolute drop dead gorgeous self" came the voice of the one and only Roman Gutierrez
"someone kill me now" Amber mumbled hitting her forehead on the dash "where is he?" she asked after she had come to terms with the new arrangement
"something came up it couldn't be postponed chica" Roman answered as he watched her face fall
To say she was disappointed that he could not come and get her was an understatement nevertheless she understood why he couldn't, at least he sent someone to get her she thought falling back into the seat
"fine" she said with a sigh . As hard as she tried she could not shake the thought that the men in her life always had something that would always be more important than her as she watched the street lights while Roman thankfully kept his thoughts to himself
