Chapter Nine ✓

SURPRISES & SPEECHES

ALLISON IGNORED THE FACT that her daughter was underage for drinking, but couldn't help to notice how much fun she was having with the boy who she was with. She watched as she spilled her champagne, giggling with the boy laughing at her. Allison walked over to her daughter and placed her hands on her hips. Her brown hair was curled and hanging past her shoulders. "What do you think you're doing, young lady?" Allison tried to keep her voice calm, but she couldn't help but to let out a small giggle afterwords.

Nova turned around, her eyes widening, she saw her mother standing there. Her mother was wearing a blue dress which went past her ankles, she had black heels on and her makeup was done nicely.

"Mom?" Nova asked, surprised. How did she get here?

Questions like that roamed through Nova's mind, but obviously she knew how. She was just in shock. Her mother said that she couldn't make it.

"I-I thought..." Nova was still stunned by her mother's appearance. Seth smiled, noticing how much the two looked alike. "Mom!" Nova smiled, handing Seth her champagne. Nova brought Allison in a hug and Allison wrapped her arms around her beautiful daughter. "What are you doing here? I'm so glad you're here!"

"I came to surprise you. Charlie and I planned it."

"Oh, my god!" Nova laughed.

The night just got a whole lot better. Nova pulled away and Allison looked at Seth. She raised an eyebrow and grinned at Nova sticking her hand out toward Seth. "I'm Allison, Nova's mother. Who must you be?" Seth held the two glasses in one hand, and Nova took them from him. "Seth Clearwater, Mrs Swan. " He shook hands with Allison. Allison turned her head and glanced at Nova.

Nova's heart fluttered knowing that her mother will try to embarrass her. "Nice to meet you, Seth."

"Nice to meet you too, Mrs Swan." He cleared his throat nervously. Nova giggled, looking at Allison.

Allison looked back at Nova and chuckled.

"That's not my last name anymore. It's Fleming." Allison said, dropping Seth's hand.

"Oh." Seth felt slightly embarrassed. "Sorry, Mrs. Fleming." "And its Ms." Nova bit her lip. She's going to have to tell Seth that her mother didn't get remarried again after Nova's father left.

"R-right," Seth said, moving closer to Nova.

"Well, I'm going to find Renèe. I'll see you two where the speeches are being held," Allison said, planting a kiss on Nova's cheek and said, "You look beautiful, Nov." "Thanks." Smiling, Allison walked away and Nova handed Seth's drink back to him. They turned to look at each other and Nova chuckled.

"Well," she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

Seth chuckled nervously, taking a sip of his drink.

From across the room Irina saw Seth and Nova talking. She instantly thought of Laurent. Seth noticed her staring. He turned to glare back at the blonde vampire. Nova met his gaze and saw him looking over at where Irina stood. "What's wrong?" Nova asked grabbing his hand, but Seth kept looking over at her. Seth's heart raced by Nova's touch.

"Seth?" Nova furrowed her eyebrows. Seth shook his head, looking down at her.

"Nothing, I'm fine." "You sure?" He nodded.

"Yeah, come on. The speeches are about to start."

The speeches continued on.

Nova and Allison both said something about Bella.

Once the main people had said their speech others can go up and say something about Bella. Edward was last. His speech made Seth look at Nova. Would him and Nova have a wedding? Would Nova be walking down the aisle? What is the future going to be like?

Seth couldn't help but to think about it. It's going to happen, he knows it is. The wedding, kids, fights, all the above. He tried shaking those thoughts out of his head, only thinking about the present instead. The future will decide when the time is right, and especially when Seth and Nova are way older. His duty now is to protect her. Be a friend, a brother or a lover if she chooses.

Nova smiled as Edward finished his speech.

The last part made her look at Seth while she smiling. Everyone raised their glasses and made a toast, and the sound of the glasses clanging made Nova's heart thump in her chest.

Once the speeches were over the guests sat up and went to the dance floor. Nova walked with Seth.

Allison was talking to Charlie and they were both smiling at Seth and Nova. Music was playing and Nova wanted to dance. Nova grabbed Seth's hand and dragged him to the dance floor. Seth laughed and went along with it. Dancing wasn't his favourite, but whatever made his imprint happy he would do.

Whatever she wanted, Seth was the happiest. He would do it in an heart beat, that's just what he felt.

Nova grabbed his hand and he spun her around.

Seth doesn't have much experience dancing, but he knows that the girls love to be spun around. Nova giggled, laughing and throwing her head back when Seth spun her. He caught her by placing a hand on her waist and she blushed. Seth and Nova danced occasionally Nova danced with Allison, Jessica, and Angela. It was sure going to be a night to remember.

Memories that she'll cherish forever, and never be forgotten.
