“We were not friends, we were not enemies. We were not different, we were not similar. We were not strangers, but we definitely did not know each other. We were partners, correction: project partners.”

Niall Horan, a loud kid who only likes music. Harry Styles, was an awkward kid who liked music. We were different, but somehow we were alike. Niall was the guitarist that annoyed people at one in the morning for playing too loudly. Harry was the singer who annoyed everyone when he would walk around the park singing his favourites songs – every time.

Somehow, in their music class, they become partners. That is the start of everything, everything different.

“You have four weeks to write a song, or cover a song, using one of the topics provided.” The music teacher spoke clearly, as she looked at the group of twenty-five students.

Niall made his way towards the curly haired kid with the awkward smile, but cheeky personality. That is how Niall knew Harry; he was just the awkward kid with a cheeky personality.

“Hey,” Niall said, sitting next to Harry swiftly. Harry looked up from the book in his hand, and put his pen down once he saw it was only his new partner. “So, our topic…” Niall said, deciding he would try to talk to Harry, but only about the project now.

“I think it’s pretty cool,” Harry said, smiling before he began writing down the information needed.

Names: Harry Styles and Niall Horan

Topic: the important messages in songs

Due date: June 2, 2014

Niall watched as Harry wrote down their information in his notebook.

“I like your writing,” Niall commented, as Harry finished writing. Harry smiled at Niall – and for some reason, the dimples Harry had, gave Niall an odd feeling.

“Thanks, I bet yours is nice too.” Harry said, tapping his finger suddenly to a beat. Harry was humming a song, and Niall was trying to figure out why it was so familiar.

“What song is that?” Niall asked, before Harry looked at him oddly. “You were tapping your finger…” Niall explained as he pointed to Harry’s tapping finger.

“Oh,” Harry said, suddenly timid, “Um it was just a song.” Harry said.

“Like what kind of song?” Niall asked, curious about the familiar beat.

“Err, a Christina Aguilera song.” Harry confessed, blushing a bit at the mention of her name. Harry hated to admit it, but sometimes, he was a little too feminine and sometimes he hated showing that side.

“Oh, okay.” Niall said, nodding. That’s why it’s familiar, Niall thought. “Oh hey, we should use Beautiful!” Niall said excitedly, thinking of the perfect idea for a project.

“You do remember we have to perform this, right?” Harry asked, pointing at the list of rules for the project.

“Yeah, what’s the big deal?” Niall asked, “I heard you can sing high notes.” Niall said, shrugging. That was what he was about, being carefree; it was his usual cheery side.

“Oh whatever, I can’t do that high of a high note.” Harry said, rolling his eyes are the idea.

“She said a cover… Covers are never exactly the same, you know?” Niall said, raising his eyebrow as he asked.
