Louis Tomlinson was in love with Harry, who was in love with Niall, who was not in love with anyone, yet. One day, when Harry is explaining his crush, and Louis thinks it’s him. Thus, he starts flirting with Harry.

*

My hands, your hands, tied up like two ships.

“Our hands tie up together sometimes. It’s like…a perfect fit.” Harry gushed to Louis, not caring how big his smile was now.

“Oh really?” Louis asked, thinking about the time Harry held his hand. They were both tipsy, scratch that, Harry was drunk.

{“You have such pretty eyes!” Harry exclaimed, hurting Louis’ ears in the process. Harry then grabbed Louis hand, swinging them back and forth as they walked to their apartment building – which they both lived in. “Thanks,” Louis said blushing, and gripping Harry’s hand tightly.}

Since that day, Louis has fallen in love with Harry’s little moves every time. He didn’t know why he loved his best friend, but there was something about the curly hair and green eyes that draws a person in.

Unless you are Niall Horan.

Drifting, weightless. Waves try to break it. I'd do anything to save it. Why is it so hard to say it?

Why can’t Niall like me, Harry thought while still talking to Louis. I just want him to love me back but if not save our friendship, Harry said in his struggling thoughts.

“I can’t tell him I like him. He’s my best friend! He cannot know, ever!” Harry exclaimed more, pulling his hair stressfully. “Plus, I think he’s straight.” Harry said, sighing loudly.

Louis smiled at the thought. He and Harry were best friends, and Harry was afraid to tell his crush he liked him.

My heart, your heart, sit tight like bookends.

While Harry is in love with Niall, and Louis thinks it’s him. Louis thinks their hearts are tight like bookends.

“I love you too.” Louis whispers, when he sees that Harry fell asleep on his couch. Louis’ hand strokes Harry’s face softly, causing Harry to wiggle around slightly.

“Mmm…” Harry mumbles in his sleep, mumbling other words Louis could not hear. “Sleep.” Harry mumbles cutely, rolling the opposite way.

Pages between us, written with no end. So many words we're not saying. Don't wanna wait 'til it's gone. You make me strong.

“What if I say I like him, but he doesn’t like me back?” Harry says, exasperatedly running his hand into his curly hair.

“It can’t be that hard, can it?” Louis said hopefully. “I mean, if he’s your best friend, he’ll understand that sometimes we fall in love with our best friends, right?” Louis said.

“I just…can’t.” Harry said with a sigh.

“Don’t give up.” Louis said, patting Harry’s back, before leaving the room with a grin on his face.

I'm sorry if I say, "I need you." But I don't care, I'm not scared of love. 'Cause when I'm not with you I'm weaker. Is that so wrong? Is it so wrong, that you make me strong?

Finally, Harry was standing at his best friend’s doorstep. Wondering if it was the right choice to stand outside the door, with the idea of telling his long-time crush how he feels about him. Niall was inside, doing his usual. Football and a pint here and there. Harry could hear Niall laughing away, and cheering.

Finally, Harry knocked on his best friend’s door – after ten minutes of debating. Harry heard Niall’s footsteps, and his laugh.

“Oh, hey Harry.” Niall said, with his usual happy smile. “I’m just watching some football…” Niall said. “What you up to?” Niall asked, looking at a slightly flustered Harry.

“I…need to talk to you.” Harry said nervously. “Like…soon…or now, if that’s okay with you.” Harry said.

“Sure, come in.” Niall said gesturing in his apartment living room.

“Uh, no, if you mind, I’ll just stand here. It’s something important but quick.” Harry said.

“Sure, whatever you want, Harry.” Niall said, chuckling softly. “Okay, talk.” Niall said with a small smile.

“Okay, this is awkward…” Harry muttered. “I have something that’s been building up for a few years…” Harry scratched his back awkwardly, “I just…I…kind of…love you?” Harry said hesitantly.

“Oh… Um…” Niall hesitated, “I’m not being mean by saying that… I mean, I’m not straight either. I don’t know if I love you, but maybe, I have some feelings for you.” Niall said with a slightly sad smile.

Think of how much love that's been wasted.

Harry took two years to confess his love, and that was two years wasted. Because now, he and Niall were on the road to a possible relationship.

“I don’t love you…yet, but I’m willing to try.” Niall said to Harry after he confessed his love for him. “Really!” Harry shouted, hugging Niall tightly. “I’d wait years for you.” Harry said happily, burying his head into Niall’s neck.

“I promise, I’ll love you someday.” Niall said softly, kissing Harry’s hair in the process. “And that day, I hope it’s forever.” Niall whispered into Harry’s ear.

People always trying to escape it. Move on to stop their heart breaking. But there's nothing I'm running from. You make me strong.

A year later, Niall and Harry were in midst of a conversation. “I never thought loving someone was so easy,” Niall muttered. “However, I love you more than anything.” Niall whispered, kissing Harry softly.

“I love you too.” Harry whispered, kissing Niall back softly. Harry stroked Niall’s cheek, still soft from Niall’s shower half an hour ago. “Forever…and always.” Harry whispered.

“You’re cheesy.” Niall said, giggling into his and Harry’s sweet kisses. “I love that about you.” Niall murmured.

“Really?” Harry gasped jokingly, “I thought it was my horrible jokes.” Harry said, giggling.

“Oh, that too.” Niall said, running his hand into Harry’s hair, while gazing lovingly into his green eyes. His beautiful green eyes, Niall thought.

“Hey, I was joking.” Harry pouted.

“But you’re cute too.” Niall said, grabbing Harry’s face, and softly turning Harry’s pout into a smile. Causing Harry to smile with his dimples showing.

“You’re…beautiful.” Harry whispered astonished. “I can’t believe you’re mine.” Harry said, kissing Niall’s cheek.

“Forever, because leaving you would be horrible.” Niall whispered.

So, baby, hold on to my heart, oh, oh. Need you to keep me from falling apart. I'll always hold on. 'Cause you make me strong.

I'm sorry I didn't mention Louis at the end, but in reality, he had to live that his feelings were not reciprocated. I just wanted to end the one shot at a very happy moment.
