Twenty-year old Normani Kordei has always been the type of person to risk everything to ensure her dance career is successful. A Houston-born gal, she left behind her beloved home to attend NYU -- one of the best universities for the performing arts.

After a bitter breakup with her longtime girlfriend, Arabella Arellano -- Normani vows to take some time off for herself to get over the breakup and focus on what is most important to her. She isn't looking for love or keen on a relationship-- at least that's what she consoles herself with.

The notion gets thrown out of the window when she meets twenty-three year old Keith Ikande, a Nigerian-born businessman, CEO of Ikande Tech Corp at an event she was dancing at.

The two have an undeniable chemistry and despite not wanting to pursue a relationship so soon after her previous one crumbled, Keith and Normani are swept up in an all-consuming love.

Their relationship isn't easy -- both of them have been raised differently : Keith with his conservative upbringing and core values that clash with Normani's liberal values leave room for a lot of conflict. They bump heads a lot but nevertheless, they endure and grow in their love.

A year into their relationship, Keith decides it was time Normani met his Yoruban family and they take a trip to Abuja, Nigeria in the summer.

But things are way different in Nigeria than they were in America and their love will be tested to its limits.

Especially since Keith's family is not too keen on the fact that his new girlfriend is an American ...
