Saved Or Broken?

Chapter 66

Today is Monday, but after this great weekend, even this day sounds great.

When my classes are over, I meet up with Logan and he tells me he is getting more used to the idea of Felicia living with him.

I know that he will end up liking it because Felicia is really nice, and he is going to be happy to see his dad with her.
But I understand that he needs some time to think about it.

When I come back from work Megan is sitting on her bed.

"Hey" she smiles, but I feel like there is something going on

"Hi"

"We need to talk"

"What happens?" I sit on my bed

"I'm finally moving in with Josh.
We found an apartment downtown and well... we are going to live together" her eyes get teary and she looks genuinely happy

"Aw I am so happy for you. I hope everything goes well. I am going to miss you" I try not to cry

"Miss me? Ha! Don't you think you are going to get rid of me so easily.
We need to meet at least once a week, and I'll come check on you, like, everyday" she jokes, but I see one tear falling through her face

I walk to her and hug her "I hope you are happy with Josh.
Please never foger that I'm your friend forever okay?"

"I love you Jess, and I'm sorry for all the times when I have been stupid"

"Shut up! You are an awesome friend"

Josh comes in the room with some empty boxes
"Oh, sorry. Do I interrupt a friendship goals moment or something?"

I wash a tear off my face and laugh
"Morgan was giving me the good news. Congratulations"

"Thanks" he smiles and Morgan's face lightens up

"Okay, so we need to work" she grabs a box and starts to keep stuff inside.

I help her out; she blends the clothes, I put them in the boxes and Josh fits them in the car.

At 11pm we are almost done.

"Wow, are you running away from me already?" Mason comes in the room

"Hey! Morgan is moving out with Josh, I've been helping her out" I give him a quick kiss on the cheek

"Oh really? That's pretty cool" he tells Morgan

"Yeah it is"

"Okay, so this is the last one" Josh comes in and notices Mason
"Yo man, how are you doing?"

"I'm good. Guess you can say the same" they hug each other quickly

"Yeah" he laughs

"Well..." Morgan takes a deep breath "I guess it is time to go"

"I'll be putting this in the car while you say bye" Josh lifts the box up "bye guys, you can come over anytime you want"

"Bye!"

Morgan walks to the door and stares at her empty side of the room.
I walk and stand next to her, rubbing her back

"I remember the first time I came here.
Your side was empty, and I couldn't wait to meet you.
God... it was like three months ago and it feels like years already" she is crying now

"You can come whenever you want, this is always going to be your room. You know that right?"

"I do" she smiles

"I wish you have a lot of happiness whenever you are going with Josh"

"Thanks Jess. Please promise me you'll come see the apartment once it's set up"

"Of course! And you'd better have it clean and organized!" I tease her and she hugs me

"Well, I should go now or this will become a river"
She looks at Mason before walking out "I warn you, be nice or I cut your balls!"

"God, okay! I got it the first time you said it" he fakes a hurt look

I laugh and she hugs me one last time.

I close the door behind me and Mason walks to me
"Are you okay?"

"Yes. Yes. I am happy for her, it's just... I don't know" I stop one tear from coming out "I'm a bit emotional I guess"

He hugs me and I feel better in his arms.

We separate when his phone buzzes inside his pocket

'Hello?'

'Really?'

'Why?'

'Yeah, of course I am happy, I just didn't expect it'

'Okay'

'Stop being annoying!'

'Yes'

'I'll tell her'

'I'll tell her, I promise'

'Bye pain in the ass'

"Who was it?" I ask confused, sitting on my bed

"It was Megan, she says she is coming next week. She wants to spend some days with us" he sits next to me

"That's great"

"Yeah" he grabs my laptop "do you want to watch a movie?"

"Sure" we lay back.
I rest my head on his chest and he rubs his finger through my hair, which makes me feel so relaxed I almost fall asleep

"This really relaxes you" he whispers

"I love it. My dad used to sit with me at night and read me stories before I'd go to sleep.
When he was halfway through the story, he would start rubbing his fingers through my hair and I would fall asleep before he could even finish"

He goes keeps that for a while until I feel his fingers stop.
When I look at him I see he fell asleep.

I move carefully and cover us with a blanket.

Before I can sleep, the thoughts of the newspaper job sink in my mind. They haven't e-mailed me yet and I can't wait to know the details.

I guess the only thing I can do is to wait.
