--Intro/Author's Note--

-W'sup readers? Den here!-

If you didn't already know, I love Initial D. Recently I wrote three stories on it, all of them action because I love me some drifting!

If you don't watch Initial D, it's totally fine because you'll still get my book. The book is mostly character development with sharp action in between.

The story will be sort of in the style of the Initial D Legends movies (My Writing Inspiration for this book), in that the visuals and soundtrack will be modern and exclusively Backdraft Smiths/Clutcho, to match the style of the new Legends movies.

This book will be a sequel to Initial D as a whole, with the entire main cast as original characters with their parents, who were in their twenties in Initial D, as supporting characters.

All the characters who were in Initial D have children now today in 2017. The book centers around the child of an original character of mine: Thomas Friedland, the son of two Americans in Saitama, Japan.

So sit back and enjoy my book! For those who haven't watched Initial D and don't understand a plot point or character, feel free to ask.

Anyway onto the prologue!

--Prologue--

-

In Saitama Central Park, there were three children playing together while their fathers watched them.

The small child giggled as he chased after his black haired friend, watching him fly down the slide.

A middle aged Takumi Fujiwara sat down and passed his old friends their coffees.

"Thanks." Ryosuke said sipping it.

His other friend, David Friedland, took the cap off and smelled it,"Mm, extra sugar. Thank you Fujiwara-san."

He nodded and sat down on the bench between them, watching his son play with the other kids.

Takumi sighed,"Mika is acting weird. She said she wants to have another kid."

"What did you say?" David asked.

"I just made an excuse and made some tofu real quick and delivered it myself. She didn't keep asking." He said shrugging.

The sun shone brightly, even for a summer morning. There wasn't a shred of clouds in the sky.

Takumi leaned back and watched a flock of birds fly overhead, starting to space out.

"There you go again." Ryosuke said chuckling lightly.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing." He said shaking his head.

Ryosuke watched his son climb the monkey bars and said,"Satoru is growing up quickly. He resembles me so much it scares me sometimes. I see him cooped up in his room, reading books."

Takumi nodded,"I feel you. I looked in the mirror lately, I thought I almost saw my old man staring back at me. My eyes are narrowing like my dad's use to, its weird."

Ryosuke nodded,"Keisuke made a joke recently, he said that all I needed was a couple more years, and he'd start calling me 'father'. Can't blame him, I took over the hospital now, just like dad.."

David rubbed his eyes,"We got old. And fast man, feels like ten seconds ago we were the fastest racers in all of Kanto. Now we're all just dudes with day jobs."

"At least our kids will get a shot at enjoying youth." Ryosuke said,"How old's your son David?"

"Thomas? He's 5. Your kid's the same age right?" David asked.

Takumi nodded as well,"My kid's 5 as well. But Satoru, isn't he older than everyone in his grade?"

"By only a couple months I think."

"Seiichi!" Mika yelled to her son, emerging from her car.

The boy ran over to her, Mika wiping sweat from his brow,"You're burning up. Sit in the shade."

Seiichi nodded, and ran to the shady sand pit, followed by his friends.

Mika walked off to sit closer to her son, sitting away from the three men chatting.

"So," David said,"You gonna teach Seiichi the old tofu drift I saw up close a while back?"

Takumi shrugged,"I dunno. I hated doing that, I'll let him decide. When he wants to start delivering for me, he'll do it. Besides, the kid needs his sleep."

"I spoke to Keisuke." Ryosuke said,"He's willing to lend Satoru his FD when he starts driving. Until of course, I'll buy him a car of his own."

"How'd Keisuke feel about parting with his FD? I hear he loves that thing almost as much as his wife and kids." David asked.

"He wasn't too happy. But he know he has a couple years with it. Plus he doesn't even use it anymore, he just sits around all day, enjoying retirement."

Ryosuke smiled,"He's always annoying me about relaxing."

He did a good impression of his brother, pulling his hair back and saying,"You look too gruff Aniki. Relax, enjoy life."

Sighing, he said,"He's been saying that since we were in high school. You'd think at some point he'd stop."

David finished his coffee first. Throwing it in a nearby trash can.

David looked at his watch,"Mary wants me home for dinner in an hour. You guys also should hit the road before rush hour hits the streets. Shibukawa is over in Gunma remember?"

"All right David, see ya later." Takumi said.

"Bye." Ryosuke said.

Seeing him walk off with his son at his side, Ryosuke said,"In about thirteen years, all our kids will be 18, and they're gonna hit the racing scene harder than we did. But I want our kids, the Gunma racers. To stick together."

"Till the end." Takumi said nodding.

"Plus," Ryosuke said,"There's plenty of racing legends that have children here in Saitama for David's son to tag along with."

Takumi actually smiled,"The old rivalry David started..."

"Saitama vs Gunma." The two old friends said smiling at each other.

"Mako'd murder me if she knew I gave away her Sileighty." Ryosuke said,"So I'm giving Thomas my FC."

"Really?" Takumi asked,"But you love that thing!"

"It's a powerful car. It makes drivers adaptable, a tough beast to handle." Ryosuke said.

Both of them sipped the last of their coffees, tossing them in to the trash.

Takumi looked at Seiichi and said,"Our kids..."

Ryosuke looked at Satoru,"Our legacy..."

-

The two old friends stayed in the park until their kids got tired from playing.

On the drive back, stuck in traffic, Ryosuke was forced to sit in the back seat of Mika's SUV, next to Seiichi and Satoru, who fell asleep leaning on his sides.

Ryosuke sighed,"Mika, can your husband please sit back here?"

Both of them shook there heads, smiling at each other.

Traffic slowly rolled forward, the SUV on the road back towards Gunma.
